System Travel?

OK...stupid newbie question, but how do you travel from one system to another? I've tried doing it from the F1 navigation quadrant map, but that doesn't seem to do anything, and I haven't discovered any jump gates or anything, so whats the trick? Does it require a special warp drive?

You can fly there manually with a jump drive, but that takes a long time. Instead, look for the gates that link each main charted solar system. Right mouse click on the gate's icon on the nav map, then fly or jump to them. The icons have their destination details displayed under them. Many gates also have an outpost next to them with a holographic text message indicating where they link to.
