Thanks. No harm in keeping the other games installed though :) EL will only use about 175 MB of hard drive space installed, including the installer. I use a significant amount of my own hard drive for space-sims and EL's hard drive footprint is pretty small by comparison... leaving plenty of room for other space games. I just don't have much time to play them, lol.

About the 175MB installation package, did you have less reliance on procedural textures this time round? I mean, I was looking at the stations and was thinking there is no way that's not a pre-fab texture...

There's actually still a lot that's managed in code, including new details/graphics. However, there is also a lot of new content at much higher detail levels. A lot of the new content simply takes up a lot of space and can't be translated into raw code very feasibly. So there is still extensive use of building things in code, but there is also a lot of new media that take up more space (high poly stations, textures, carriers, over 3 times the planet mesh detail, new nebulae, half a dozen capital ships, etc, etc). So there's basically a lot more of everything, both code and 'normal' media. To give you an idea on the difference in content, the original game's installed binary is about 49 MB in size, the new one is about 125 MB. However, the installers are around 25 MB and 48 MB respectively, so the new game is only about double the download size even with all of the new content.

Ya know Vice...you remind me of very early days of programing..like machine and assembly. Back in the day (when I did some programming) you had to do tricks like that to optimize for hardware limitations. My hat's off to you for your talent!

Good point Warhawk,
Why would anyone want to play any other game till they mastered "Legends"?
On the other hand, I'm not even sure it's possible to master a game that has an infinite universe. Vice tells me that you can't live long enough to find everything!
Well, that might be an exaggeration, how about 20 years?
Personaly, for me, that exceeds my life expectancy!
You have do to do this!:P

given the possible size of the universe ( over 4 million sectors in each axis ) and the amount of time you'd need to spend examining each sector for hidden goodies, several lifetimes

Believe me, after getting Evochron Legends, and the time I have to play, I have uninstalled everything on my hard drive, just so I can commit myself totally to the game. This game is just that good.

For me X3 is graphically very nice but full of bugs and not very playable and stretches my imagination a little to far to be believable. Legends ticks all the boxes for me and then some.
