Okay, bare with me I am brand spanking new!
I bought a mining beam for mining. I went to the astroid field and got very close and started the beam.
I get an "error" stating my Cargo Space Not Avail. for Material Class {plat} or {Metal}
I've done this to plants, stroids etc. What does the comment mean and why can't I mine?
Also, is there a way to lock on the stroid (match speed) so I don't have to baby sit the mining process.
One other item, ANY help would be apprciated. I so want to play this game but I am missing even the basics.
Thanks all....

Hey Tarkkus,
While mining, press F3. The inventory screen will open and you will notice one cargo slot in the upper left. Note that it will say something along the lines of:
Use backspace to set your speed to zero, which is the speed of the asteroid. Also, notice that while B triggers the beam, ALT+B toggles the beam! In a safe area, set your speed to zero, toggle the beam, go get a coffee and get back in 20 minutes or so.
Sell your commodities at the station, and after a few runs, at the station, expand your cargo slots in the shipyard. Will make your mining trips far more profitable.Text

This means you have only one cargo slot. Each cargo slot can contain up to 25 units of a single commodity, but it can not hold multiple types of stuff. So, as soon as a unit of Diamonds, Metal or Platinum is loaded, there is no cargo space for other commodities, resulting in that errorr. If you keep mining though, you'll notice the amount of that commodity that IS loaded fill slowly. Simply put, as long as you only have one cargo slot, you can only mine the first item you mine.Slot 1: Diam - 12

Welcome aboard, Tarkkus.
Just want to say hang in there, the game has a bit of a learning curve but it is so worth it in the end.

That worked great, THANK-YOU.
I can't for the life of me BUY anything in the shipyard. I can select it but right clicking on anything doesn't do anything. Where do I see the prices of items? I see only cancel/exit or trade/build. I don't want to trade it I want to just add to it.
Thanks for the assistance.

Cant sell items at the shipyard, when you first dock at the station you're inventory menu will pop up (if it doesnt hit F3).This is where you buy and sell items. If you are trying to buy ship frames and such (from shipyard menu)then just click-drag the component onto your ship.Originally posted by Tarkkus

Well, I don't want to sell/buy a frame. I just want two cargo bays... or 3 or 4 etc. Do I just drag those (haven't tried that)... but I don't know the price.
Is the shipyard only for buying a new frame? I only want to customize the ship I already have. Customize it to make the most cash safely and then start upping the frames (well, that's the plan anyway)
I guess I'm really asking... how do I get another Cargo bay?
One other question, when mining I picked up platinum, very nice price. On my third run I picked up metal... a waste of time apparently. So, with one cargo bay and I start picking up metal how do I just dump that junk and mine for platinum?
Thanks all for the help...

It's for both. You can modify your current frame or design a new one.Is the shipyard only for buying a new frame?
Drag and drop the one you want onto your ship. Step by step -> click on Cargo Bays on the lower left menu. Locate the cargo bay(s) you want to install on your ship on the left side of the screen (the components menu), then drag and drop it onto your ship. You will see build cost update to reflect the change(s) you make to your ship, reduction or addition in remaining assembly resources, and the comparison lists at the top. When you are finished making changes to your current ship, or building a new ship, click on Trade and Build to finalize the configuration.I guess I'm really asking... how do I get another Cargo bay?
Click on it while you are in open space (which discards it) or sell it to a passing ship. One other question, when mining I picked up platinum, very nice price.
