More to work for?
I just recently bought this fantastic game and after a few hours of single player I decided to check out the multiplayer. After a little while of playing multiplayer I stated chatting with some of the other players online, and after asking what I would need to venture our they decided to help me. So i met up with them and they gave me some some amazing weapons an equipment (Mantis Jump Drive, Banshee, and some powerful laser). After this they guided me to the wolf system and handed me 70 million credits to buy a phoenix frame and outfit it. They then showed me how to make massive money off of selling stealth drives. I now have enough money for a leviathan frame, and what appears to be the best weapons and equipment after just a few hours of playing.
So my question is: is there anything else to work for or have I just practically beat the game? I know there's always rift space and exploration, but is there any better frame to find or any weapons or equipment that I can't afford?

I had to refuse money and help online a few times. I think people want to get you up to speed faster so you can fly with them. Cause even in best gear you can still get blown up. Thats one thing I love about this game is the skill involved. I think a good practice would be when offering help and cash to make sure the person knows that it might take some fun out of it; specially for those who's major part of fun is exploring and advancment and not nessisarily combat.

Welcome aboard Magnnus......There are no other Weapons/Ships that are higher in cost then the Leviathan, Fulcrum torpedo, Banshee cannon and a Class 5 laser. These are good tools to help you in your Adventures in ER. There are containers to find, Contracts to do, MP PvP meets, Clans to join and of course " the Beacon Quest" which is a Hoot ot do. A lot of different Pilots choose to down size their Rigs to give them more of a Challenge.....This Game is so open ended and does not end. You are a mercenary for higher and a seeker of Fortune.......joining a Clan is Awesome. You can also buy licenses at starports and do trading, aligning yourself with the Rebels/clans the bad guys or with the Navy/Energy/Miners the good guys. Change all reputations in the system to be good or change them all to be hostile towards you.......the reputation stays the same in MP....but can be changed in SP. You can even hire pilots to fly formatioin with you.......and the vastness of ER space is Awesome....and Don't forget about finding the Vonari...that is a challenge in it's self.....as you can see there is alot to do.....Hope this Helps

Include some racing in there also, much more fun with/against human players. If you think the challenge was somewhat spoiled by the help you received, create another profile and see how long it takes you to acquire those things on your own (it can indeed be much more rewarding to earn it yourself). Building your skills in combat is another good step, it can take a long time to become a top pilot, plenty of room to expand that skillset. I'd also recommend you go for the beacon quest and if you're into exploring, there is plenty to find including several very profitable discoveries. Learning to use some additional technology, like cloaking devices, is another option to provide more things to do (especially in hostile and high risk space). Also, if you haven't already, get into the spying role and see how you do either solo or with a wingman.

I do enjoy exploring, but if there's nothing that I can get out of it there doesn't seem to be any point. I suppose I could create a new profile, but even then it seems somewhat easy to get top of the line ships (from what Ive seem in mission rewards and prices). I was hoping that capital ships, carriers, and massive destroyers would be available (I came from playing X3 where I had a space empire consisting of multiple destroyers and carriers armed with countless fighter ships). However I have heard great praise about this game and I do love the physics so I'm sure ill still enjoy it, but it does seem to be missing my favorite feature. That being massive ships that give you a massive edge but are also extremely hard to obtain, sometimes taking hundreds of hours of playtime.

Correct, this is not a fleet or empire simulation at all, it is strictly a lone-wolf mercenary space-sim, individual survival, local tactics/strategy, no broad business management or multi-ship fleet management. No armchair gameplay, all first person, agile small ship, immediate direct control.
As for exploration, I guess it would depend on what you expect to get out of it. There's far more than nothing, there are free weapons, advanced technologies, highly valuable resources, long range short cuts, new enemies to encounter, uncharted systems to be discovered (some with their own unique attributes), and trading hotspots to be found.

By advanced technologies do you mean weapons or equipment that are more powerful than anything that can be commonly found or bought. Or do you mean powerful weapons or equipment that would normally cost a lot of money (such as a banshee or mantis jump drive).
When I asked this question what I had in mind was the recent thread about a UFO that was apparently unknown and possessed weapons far more powerful than what most players had access to.

Weapons and/or equipment that can either be very difficult to come by, is/are very expensive even if found, and/or are only available in certain hidden locations. Particularly secondary components (not sure how much of a spoiler you might want me to offer
Depending on the item, can be useful for trade as well as in combat or other non-combat related activities (including something I recommended earlier).

Ok, so just because I have a leviathan with a banshee cannon, R5 laser, and mantis jump drive it doesn't mean I've progressed as far as I can go
? If so I'm sure I will have a great time.

Correct, both in terms of where you've been in the game's universe and in terms of what you've acquired. In some ways, you may decide that the Leviathan setup over-stepped the mark a bit for the role you want to play. For heavy offensive ship combat, that's a good setup, for racing, spying, and evasive exploration in hostile space, you may decide it's not so good when you need more speed and agility. The Mantis is generally always a keeper for its range, but a particle cannon a few tiers down can offer a faster firing rate that can be advantageous in several situations where you don't need a high powered slow-firing cannon and instead need to inflict almost as much damage faster. So even in combat, there's room for change in both directions. Some 'technology' will also enhance your ship's capabilities, especially in non-combat or light combat objectives. And don't forget a crew, one of the most effective ways to advance in the game is hiring people to further improve the capabilities of your ship, building their skill set as they become more loyal to you. They can help with exploration, survival, trade, and combat.

Alright, thanks for the quick responses. When I wake up tomorrow I think Ill set up a new profile and start building up again while hoping to find some tasty technologies.

You should find some 'shocking' things, 'scan' carefully, 'relay' what you acquire, and watch out for certain 'booms'.

A new profile seems like a good choice to me. Without help, its a whole lot harder. You'll find you'll be taking quite some hours before you can even buy a stealth device to sell again the first time you do it all by yourself.
I side with verbosity: "Forget fancy frames, the best pilots in the universe most powerful tool is not a piece of equipment - Follow the beacons!"

Giving gifts to new players is what I do, there are some rules which I try to stick with.
1. Only one gift to each player in the form of equipment.
2. Never give large amounts of credits, I had to work hard to get my money and do not see the need to give it away.
3. One really good hint to help a pilot on their way.
I wish to help a new pilot enjoy the Evochron experience and would not intentionly spoil it for anyone.
Evochronmas Greetings to you all HoHoHo;)

I have to say it's been a great pleasure playing ER on my own. And I will continue to do so - and I don't want anybody giving me enormously large amount of money, or exact location of any hidden item.
I do adpreciate clues though.
I've actually found 4th beacon now and I have bought Hunter frame - looks great by the way
I have improved my reputation in two systems - very hard work :-)
It will take days, weeks, maybe months to achieve 'everything' in the game (although you can never be sure that you've found everything).
One of the greatest games ever!
