Is This Cheating?

I just Started playing a little while ago. But I keep starting a new game to try different things. On one time, I accepted a mission to transport some items. Well I accidentally sold the cargo, and got a big sum of money for it. So I canceled the the mission. But I still had a lot of money left after the cancellation. I was looking to see if it killed my rep or if I was going to have bad guys get me, or maybe even the station not let me do buisness with them anymore. But I couldn't find any consequence. Is that cheating?

No, it's not. But it will hurt your reputation in the long run and you won't get any more of those contracts.

No its not cheating, if you do that too often it will have an adverse effect on your reputation with the faction the contract was with. They may become hostile towards you or just not offer so many contracts to you.

You can earn a lot of money if you complete a contract and your rep will increase and you can accept more expensive missions.

Oh, Just wanted to tell Vice. Your game "Renegades" is great. Just came from playing freelancer, and Frontier - First Encounters. this game is just what I needed. Thank you. And the fact that you combine single and multi into a choice for the same pilot is just awesome. My only complaint is that I have not successfully got it to run on Linux. Until then I will just have to dual boot. Once again. Thanks for a wonderful game.

Welcome Muskrat. Keep ideas like that in mind, there are many ways to play the game 'outside the box' and some can be very profitable. While stealing contract cargo can hold you back and prevent you from earning more in the long rung, certain other activities can significantly advance your progress in the game. Formulating your own gameplay strategies can bring in some big rewards.

There are some qreat ways to earn some big profits. This is an Awesome Game hands down.

Selling the cargo hurts your crews status (if U have a crew) also. I.E. if they are at 100 % their % will or may decrease.
