Atmospheric scooping.
Could fuel scoops also be made to be used within the atmospheres of some planets as well as with solar activity. Scooping the raw materials for fuel from a planets atmos would be considered an act of aggression maybe and your local ratings would suffer and you would be denied docking rights at that planet. It would add another dynamic to hostile sectors I think as we made a living generating fuel in their atmospheres, fighting the locals and then selling it to the nearest station.

Atmospheric scooping.
Different looking angle but I think I like the idea...

Might make getting fuel a little too easy. If you're on your way to far-off destinations like "Unknown" (COUGH-PUNCH-SHUSH-COUGH) you wouldn't have the added problem of running out of fuel because you could just stop at some random planet along the way. Trust me, there are plenty.

Alternatively, the illegal practice of scooping the atmospheres of inhabited planets for Oxygen for sale to stations would give a similar feel without ruining existing game mechanics.Originally posted by Poodle
