Bug? - Missing Asteroids (and possibly other things?)

Post by Paul »

I did a search and couldn't find anything else similar to this. Every asteroid field outside of the tutorial area is just not there. I go to the location, and there are no asteroids. Even Rucker, with the massive fields showing on the nav map and the screenshots I have seen with roids right by the stations, not a single asteroid actually displays no matter where I go.

I can still get missions to clear asteroids, and they send me to empty space (which shows as a asteroid field on the nav map). I just can't complete them, since I can't find anything to destroy.

The asteroid field in Sapphire is visible, as is the large asteroid. But in all the areas which weren't available in the tutorial they are just gone. I tried uninstalling, deleting the folder, reinstalling, and re-registering the game - but they're still missing.

I think the hidden gate in rucker is gone too, since I flew all over the system trying to find the hidden gate to Lost Rucker that I saw mentioned on the forums (hoping to find some 'roids to mine there) and couldn't find it.

This oddity has totally dashed my get rich scheme of mining in Rucker, so any help to solve the issue would be appreciated.

You're simply in the middle of a few or more clusters in larger asteroid regions. When there is more than 1 cluster indicated on the nav map, you'll need to look around a bit to locate a nearby cluster. The nav marker will indicate the middle of the clusters. The easiest strategy to find nearby asteroids is to turn to a heading of about 45, 135, 225, or 315 and 45 or -45 pitch, then fly away from that central nav point, you'll eventually encounter one of many clusters of asteroids nearby. Small clusters can be easier to find, but don't give you as many options for clearing and mining.

For the hidden gate in Rucker, make sure you are using version 1.858 of the game. Lost Rucker is a custom modification that was added to the official game just recently. If you are using version 1.858, it will be in the sector and will simply take some hunting and awareness to find.

I think the no asteroid thing was some sort of glitch. I flew around again and suddenly theres asteroids all over the place where I know I saw none before, so unless they're randomly generated I was bugged somehow before.

I didn't do anything to change anything so im not sure why they are suddenly abundant where they were none before. I was even unable to see the small clusters in other systems before, and now I'm seeing them fine too. All I did was turn my comp off and come back to it and the game a bit later.

I even managed to find the gate now (funnily enough, it was the 1st spot I randomly jumped to), and I know I had been in the area that it was at before - I jumped to several spots in every sector before looking for roids or a gate, and the spot I found it was one of the spots that I had jumped very close to before (without seeing a roid OR the gate).

Sounds like you found the "Twilight Zone" section of the game!;)
