Hi all. This request comes from the angle of probably shooting myself in the foot but would it be possible to disable jumping unless your nav marker is at least in front of you? Possibly within the HUD?
As it is it has saved my bacon a few times but that inner voice nags and points out that I am jumping off that ----------> away and ending up at a nav point behind myself.
At least if I had to find and point AT the nav marker the nagging voice gets gagged.
Adrift in space, I\'m looking for the Jumpgate home but until then, I am a Mercenary!
Well, that would be awkward because your orientation remains the same. If you'd change stuff, you'd get into trouble when trying to approach planets by jumping to their opposite side, since you'd have to jump much further out, then turn around and then fly all the way back.
I want jumping scars .

Hmmm Interesting point, I hadent realized that your orientation after the jump is actually the same as before the jump. I hit many a corvette after jumping while facing the nav point.
Tell the nagging voice that direction of travel in normal space has nothing to do with the direction of travel in subspace. Also your entry and exit direction are the same because to your ship it is as if there was no entry or exit. Simply a straight flight forward through a single portal.
In my mind the whole point of "jumping" is instant travel. And if there is no duration to the travel then all distance and direction is moot. Because you cant move in an instant. All the moving happens before and after the jump.
At least that makes sense to my mind. If it was simply warp speed like Star Trek it would be a whole different matter.
