New to ER with questions

First- great game. I am playing the demo ATM but will be purchasing as soon as I get a PayPal account (I wish I could just use my credit card).

The graphics are great however I am wondering-are there any graphic enhancement mods available? In particular I am wondering if AA can be cranked up and if textures and shading can likewise be enhanced.

Music and sound effects- again no complaints aside from the heavy compression. Being an audiophile I would love to experience ER without the heavy MP3 compression. Any chance to purchase the uncompressed WAV files? I realize this is a download game so in keeping the downloads reasonable certain compromises had to be made but... what about the chance to purchase a game disc sans compression for an additional fee?

Lastly-what is the online PvP / PvE community like-easy to get games with hundreds of players or is this a smaller make an appointment to play community?

Not sure, but check the PayPal site, you may be able to use your credit card.

The online game is almost identical to the offline game.

1 - You can not make fleets with AI online.

2 - You make more money online, any player that accepts a contract and it is completed, all the other players in the area get paid too.

3 - You will be playing CO-OP and or DM online with real players, and of course the AI joins in sometimes.

You can use a credit card with either the regular payment option or PayPal, you don't need to create a PayPal account to pay with a credit card through their service, an account is simply optional.

It's open to mods, the customizing kit is available at the link CS provided. Little has been done in the way of customized/changed graphics. May change in the future. You can turn on AA if you want, and/or AF, textures can be changed if you like, shaders not.

Not currently, but as CS points out, you can import your own sounds if you have some design ideas you'd like to see implemented. What you hear in the game is playback of ADPCM WAV. Some sounds are intentionally digital/radio sounding, hallow, rough, scratchy, etc. Others are more high quality, also intentionally.

Smaller, appointments recommended. We typically use ICQ to meet up with other players when they are online and I'd recommend subscribing to the multiplayer thread (sticky near the top of this forum) so you will receive e-mail notifications any time a session is announced in advanced. The new multiplayer system just launched, which should make it easier for more players to participate, so I'm hopeful multiplayer will be more widely used. It's tough to get smaller indie games like this to have a moderate sized multiplayer userbase, most players don't seem to click on the multiplayer option even just to try it. Most players don't even use this forum. But multiplayer is what the players make of it, more interested people like yourself can build a solid user base.
