hello everyone
i just registered here on the forums after trying out the demo and i was very impressed with what it had to offer. i just have a few Q's for you long term vets before i pay money for this game.
first i am curious as to how many people can be found online at any time on average?
what is the economy like, is it between players or do most products end up being sold to npc's?
lastly what are the three things you like best and the three things you like least about this game.
(oh yeah one last one, which of the three games is most played?/most advisable to buy(renegade or the other two))
thanks!

Hi all
Hi Colt. Nice to meet you.
I'm rather new myself.
What I like: (No order)
1) Seamless universe, planets. Nothing wrecks immersion more than loading screens.
2) Simple interface, easy to grasp yet deep gameplay that allows for creative approaches. That whole, 'think outside the box' thing.
3) Physics! Ties in with #2. Realism allows for all sorts of interesting tricks and maneuvers giving opportunity for a lot of creativity. Rather than figuring out artificial mechanics, you can use your own familiarity with god's own Newtonian mechanics.
4) I had to put in four because I'm just that way. The relationship Vice has with the community and his prodigious, bordering on disturbing, ability to implement new features when the community comes up with good ideas. The recent addition of factions for instance was brought up in a post, everyone agreed it was a swell idea, and within a few days there it was in the game. Not only that, but Vice is full of tremendously good ideas himself so the faction system we got was all that we discussed and more. Bug fixes? I've posted them, they were fixed in a build released within a half-hour.
What I don't like:
I don't think I could really come up with three. I can't say that there aren't some little things that could be more suited to my tastes, but that would really just be me wanting the game to be what I want it to be rather than Vice's vision- anyways, my own vision is so close to Vice's that I would have a pretty hard time coming up with anything substantial.
Sometimes I look at some of the more epic, story driven space sims and think I would like a little bit of that- but that wears off quickly in those games and what's left often isn't terribly impressive. Renegades has a believable universe and at the same time certain old-school space-sim qualities that make the gameplay itself always exciting.
As with any game, the graphics could be fancier- it could have all of the latest and greatest wiz-bang graphical effects, but then I would need a whizz-bang super high-end computer to run it. I don't have one. In fact, you could add this up with the things I like because I do think the graphics are very good. They're very tasteful, incredibly beautiful at times, and about as good as I could imagine them being without all of that stuff that makes Crysis run like crap on just about everybody's computer. Renegades runs brilliantly on my mid-lowish end computer and that's just fine with me.
As for your other questions, I'm not the one to ask. I've yet to try multi-player but once I get around to it, I'm sure that will be number 5 on the list above- none of the crap you have to deal with on a MMOG, just good, solid co-op and pvp play.
Enjoy your stay Colt.
Cheers,
Mechanical

Hi all
Thankyou mech, its responces like these that i look for before trying out games like these in not so played genres or from less known companies. Im thinking i will buy this game, heck its only 25$ canadian and i liked the single player enough for that. just to confirm its only a one time payment right, not pay to play (i would hate to find out its pay to play after getting hooked). also about how long does it take that activation key to arrive?
EDIT: ok well impatience caught up with me and i just finished the paypal transaction, now its time for the wait.

Hi all
You probably won't have long to wait. I believe my key came in maybe 2 hours.
What I like most about the game is that single play and multiplay is seamless. I believe this is the first time it has ever been implemented in a game. Now I rarely play multiplayer, but knowing that I can at any time, log into a server and get help or guidance from someone is a big plus.

Hi all
interesting that you would say that, i would assume most people would play solely on multiplayer.
heh, unluckliy for me i had no mullah in my paypal account and the transfer has to pass through the bank first which will probably take until monday (unless my bank is open on weekends).

Hi all
Hello,
New player to EvochronRenegade here and it is well woth buying.
I only used the training part of the demo, liked the feel of the game and purchased it.
Things I like.
First, single play and online play are the same, well almost. You can't recruit AI online, I think that is about the only thing I can think off, but other will enlighten us on any others.
Second, their is a lot more to this game than meets the eye. A lot of ships systems are limited to improve interactivity. You have to hunt around and think to play it. This is for the quest, finding hidden cargo and trade routes.
Third, very good support forum and friendly.
Things I don't like.
First, some times too much interactivity is needed.
Second, long time to land on planets ( this might be me, their might be a quick way ).
But as I said, played the demo and liked the feel bought it and got the key 10 mins later I think, I know it was not long.

Hi all
true true, oh yes and there is no quick way to land on planets. i tried with IDS off coming in with a good afterburner burn that had my small starter ship going 4k+, ever wanted to know how a kernel of popcorn feels, yeah thats what it was like.

Hi all
There is a way to do this, I do it all of the time. Just aim your ship at the blip (city) set your ids off after burn to max speed then when your here the voice "Entering atmosphere" pull your nose up until your velocity is reading right at 800 as you descend thru the atmosphere you will see the corona around your ship but you should be ok, wait until your altitude is around 40000 then switch the ids back on and push the nose over and land on the blip.
Practice that one it comes in really handy in hostile systems if you want to do a planet landing.

Hi all
I played the training and was instantly hooked. Bought it the next day, got my key after a few hours. As long as the money transfer goes threw right away only have to wate untill the next time Vice is on to get the key.
I love the feel of the game. The loan wolf doing what ever it takes to earn credets.
The seemless game play, entering planets and even simply pointing my ship in a direction and being able to fly to it and posibly find another system that wasnt even on the map.
The combat is better then most space sims Ive played just because of the phisics. Theres just so many diffrent things you can do that your always learning something new.
The suport is positively unbeatable. I was here one night and when several diffrent bugs were reported about 20 mins apart from eachother. Vice had them fixed and the fixed version avalible 10 to 15 mins after they were reported. He reads and consideres every idea someone posts or sends him, even opens them up for descution. We had an excelent debate on such and idea a few weeks ago. You just dont find suport like that from the "brand name" game studios.
Its also an excelent comunity, everyones willing to help and make you feel welcome. Were all here for the same reason, a love of games and space sims.
I really dont have anything I dont like about the game that isnt just my personal preffrence.
Im primaraly a gun fighter, so Id like for them to have a longer range. I prefer to use missiles only when I get into a situation whare I'm geting pounded.
Id also like to be able to up grade my ship further but that would mess up the curent ballence.
I would love to see better graphics and a more indepth story (like the space sims you pay twice as much for) but I use dialup and downloading something like that every cuple weeks to keep up todate would be agravateing so Im happy with what it is.
Lastly more detailed planet surfaces, Id love to see trees and ocans on the planets. Its a space game but the ability to actuly fly around on planets is one of the things that sold me when I first tryed it.
I have yet to try multiplayer though so still have that to look forward too.
