Ranges

Post by jureidinim »

Well.. bought and playing the game now. Still learning stuff.

Two quick questions:
1) Is there any way to see your jump range? I was hoping for a circle around your current position on map, or anything else to help determine how far I can jump with each engine upgrade.

2) Search contract missions - are these "items" detected on your radar? If so, how are they depicted? I took one of those - "search this area near waypoint for lost item missions" - but couldn't find it. The contract text says i should see it on the scanner, but i'm not seeing it. Do i need a cargo scanner? (don't think so, but just checking)

1 - Jump drive classes generally indicate how many sectors you can jump per cycle. So a class 3 drive can travel 3 sectors away in any given direction.

2 - When they appear on your radar, they will be purple blips. It can take some hunting to locate lost items. One of the best ways to find them is to keep the navigation point at the waypoint, then fly around it in a circular pattern, increasing your distance from the waypoint until you spot something on radar. Cargo scanners can help with radar range as well as provide specific content details about a cargo container or nearby ship.
