ship hard points

Post by Tuco »

This has probably been brought up before...but...

I'm thinking that the bigger ships should have more hard points for equipment.

I know that after the talon or whichever, the number of hard points do go up. But, even when you get to the leviathan, you don't have enough hard points to install all the possible equipment. It seems to me that a ship as big as the leviathan would be able to accomodate all the available ship hardware at the same time.

Thoughts, comments?

ship hard points

Indeed, it has been discussed before (example: http://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewtop ... 1#pid27720 ). Not being able to install every possible piece of equipment forces the player to prioritize their design and helps prevent the 'super ship' syndrome where all players will eventually end up with the same configuration that exploits all that the equipment options provide with none of the requirements of balance and design. Giving the smaller frames the option to also have up to 5 equipment systems helps keep them a little more competitive with the larger frames. However, you can use your cargo bay as a back up for altering your design during gameplay, at the expense of cargo space. And that's a capacity you can increase or descrease when you're designing your ship.

swapping stuff out of the cargo bay is exactly what I wound up doing. its ok.

However, I get your point about ship parity.
