first question? some pilots fly daily, some less so. there are good times for flying and not-so-good times. ( its worth noting that the not-so-good times have pilotws checking it out seeing no-one is on and leaving.

there is a "good times for MP" post that will give you the times...

you can use the same pilot profile as in SP,

you'll find MP is the same gameplay and universe wise. - seriously the ONLY difference is that there are no wingmen, and there are advantages to MP that SP doesn't have......

Oh, that is just begging a question, what are the advantages?

Also, are there a lot of connects and disconnects in the 8-10 US Central Time?

Teaming up with other human players to complete far more difficult contracts (that pay a lot better) is one big advantage. For example, the contracts in Thuban become much easier. You can also trade and explore with other people. Helping each other is a big part of the benefits of multiplayer. For example, I've helped some players more easily start the beacon quest, some have been rescued when they run out of fuel, others receive money to help get the started, others have gotten some new weapons/equipment, others have been given protection from hostiles as they learn various aspect of the game. It's also generally more interesting to interact with real people that AI controlled ships.

Do a lot of people use team speak online, or is most text chat? How does the chat work, is it global, or by sector? Also how is the money distributed on contracts, does the holder of the contract divvy it up?

Not many use it that I'm aware of. It was more widely used for a while with EA (Verb ran a TS server for a while). But if more players start using multiplayer it's possible TS will be more widely adopted.
How does the chat work, is it global, or by sector?
Global unless you send a private message to a targeted ship.
Also how is the money distributed on contracts, does the holder of the contract divvy it up?
Equal payment is automatically given to each linked player, hence the reason multiplayer can offer some signifigant advantages over single player when it comes to cooperative objectives.

I might be tempted to Run a TS server in the future,
but it really depends on player usage on the server, and TS uptake.....

you can send PM's ? I didn't know that.... how????

Lastly you may have noticed my new signature, if you have played on the server let me know and I can send you the link for your own tag ( updated automatically on a daily basis ).

Currently it only works for those who have been involved in a registered kill, but once I have the 'time spent online' function in place, then it will work for anyone who has been on the server.

Target the ship of the person you want to speak to (privat) and press Alt+Enter to send a privat text message...

Hiya all,

as you might have noticed the MP leagues now shows time spent online, and it will show anyone who has logged at least a minute on the server. Currently it only shows the time in minutes, but this may change in the future.

This also means that anyone who has logged onto the server can have their own pilot tag, just u2u me for the url....

I've been working on an autopilot card system, which should be in place as soon as I've finished the pilot login/registration system. Once the login system is complete I'll be offering a 'gallery' and other features (if wanted\\requested.)

Lastly I'm working on a 'cheat-map' which will show the location of every item in renegades and will auto-update as the universe changes ( and also be compatible with custom universes like the EVOAUP), unless Vice decides to code stuff into the game from within rather than through the standard method currently employed.

currently 16 or so,

I can set it to stretch the size of the image, or to limit the number of players, or both...

I was thinking of limiting the time based one to 15, and the league itself to a top ten.

I'm also thinking of a top-ten pilots per week, what d'you think?

http://www.verbsleagues.co.uk/ ???

seems to be,
and my game server ( different machine), had an active connection about 5 mins ago,

if its the league tables, pretty much all the info in in this thread anyway, and if you are having issues connecting to the game then , try following the steps in the FAQ, or U2U me or Vice for support..

Interesting. I think verb should compile a combat strategy guide for Renegades. Speaking of combat, what is the most successful ship frame in multiplayer combat so far?

That's a tough one to answer, especially now that wing systems effect agility, it might take some time to sort that out now. But the Renegade, Hunter, Centurion, and Phoenix seem to be the most popular. I typically switch between the Renegade and Phoenix.

I've been working today on a login system for my site,
link to the alpha version of the site http://www.verbsleagues.co.uk/index2.php

partly this is to allow some new functions, like the ability to store pilot profiles and alternative universe maps and pilot cards, as well as allowing some users to produce reports, which for security reasons I'd prefer to be outside the 'public area'.

I've also been working on my 'cheat map', but while working on the user system it occurred to me that instead I could provide a 'guild trading area' where pilots can buy and sell information from their map logs, including secret areas, trade routes and where to buy the best beer.

I've got a notion of how I would like this to work, but I'd like to hear some ideas before I start to put it into place.............

Sounds Great. If everything was free it would take a lot of the challenge out of the game. On the other hand I myself could fly forever on my own and not find a thing. :D

searching by leaving Inertial on is pretty slow, its easier to leave the 'f1' window open, and adding ( depending on you jump class , between 1 and 5, or higher........ ) to one of the sector co-ords,

as tha_rami says sticking to a nice round number on one axis helps, and most of the systems are fairly around 0 on the 'SY' axis already,

I'd just like to point out that Tucker has put everyone else to shame by having logged 12 hours at the helm !

Go dude  !!!

thats over 5 hours over what the nearest pilot (me) has spent online!

So far the top 5 pilots by time have each logged over four hours, not bad considering that the time stat was only introduced within the past fortnight.

and we have a pilot-hours total just shy of 40 hours ( circa 39 hours twenty mins).

some hints in regards to MP..........

1. Joining for less than ten mins is just silly, if no-one is there its not even enough time for someone to notice and join..

2. sapphire is neutral ground, the only time you'll see combat there is if two pilots have decided to have a competition, or if they are clanned

3. if you cannot connect to a server, try again, then try another server, then post your results up here, it lets us server admins know if our servers are down, and we can help if you have connection issues.........

to my mind this is really good usage for the server considering that the game is only a few months old, but big thanks to Tucker and the my New School gang!
