I really don't see the need for mines - they are the tactics of a person who cannot fight well...
beard, have you tried shooting at the missiles? (With MDTS turned off)

I don't really agree on the mines, as I think mines are just not combat-items. They are pre-fight items and I don't know, it just sounds weird to me.

I can understand that point of view, but it will also add to the armoury and techniques, on an experienced pilot ( I can already see ways it could be adapted into current PvP tactics ) Plus is it not foolish to suppose that mines would be used in a space-combat arena ?Originally posted by Jeremy

Hmm, given the fact of computers and radar, it would be hard to deploy mines, really, I think - rather costly and highly uneffective.
But I don't know, it just doesn't feel right to me... can't explain it...

How about "magnetic" mines? If you get too close to them, they will come after you and follow 'till destroyed or impact.

Thing is, mines require the player to just fly his ship right into the little thing - something which won't happen very frequently.(As opposed to firing cannons and missiles directly at a ship) I just don't think they add much to gameplay. (No skill involved either - just drop them everywhere and what have you.)
I think for the Alliance, mines are usually used to guard places(like the minefields in Arvoch) - not something a regular pilot would ever use...
(IMHO)

Watch your 3D radar display (central display), the yellow blips that appear are the directions of incoming missiles. The proximity beeping and central bar graphs will give you the range and you can visually watch them if needed until you're familiar with using the radar, bar graphs, and audio alerts combined.I am having difficulty with missle evation, so maybee as in freespace , missles direction on the hud, or even on the central mfd.

Could you be more specific than just "some time"? Who was taking the money from my Credit Card every month?
Anyway, thanks to you, I have attempted to recontact them regarding joining the "fray".
Thanks for the update.

It has a lot of features that AC would benefit form, the hud is awful though, and it is only a multiplayer game.
Game play is a very steep learning curve.
Have you also tried the BTRL conversion of Freespace, it will be awesome.

Well, I'm still not getting thru. I bought the game, "Allegiance" by Microsoft, a long time ago. It was a MMO and required the player to sign up and cost $10.00 a month. After a few months I quit paying as my gaming time was limited. I left the game installed, but now the site seems discontinued. I tried the new site and left email at support. If there's a d/l for new access, I seem to have overlooked it.

microsoft did originally develop the game many years ago, it was abandoned and went userware years ago, I think you have been paying for a long time when you needn't have.
