Are you talking about the map (probably) or the cockpit view (not sure if zoom is a function from the cockpit)?

If you're referring to the navigation map, Arvoch does not use out of sector controls for the map since missions are in one sector at a time.

If you are referring to view controls, such options may work differently depending on which view control mode you may be using at the time. For example, if you have TrackIR enabled, it will override the left and right view controls while in the cockpit, but the above and rear camera view modes will still display. If you are in chase mode with TrackIR active, then all panning/view controls will be enabled. So it can depend on which primary view mode you are in (1st, 3rd, target, etc) and what additional view controls you may have enabled.

If a primary view mode and/or view control input mode is not overriding the view controls, then they will be available if enabled for joystick HAT or using the default Insert, Home, Page Up, and End keys. Zoom is available in certain view modes only. If neither sound like what you are referring to, then describing the view mode and view controls you are trying to use might help me understand better.

Edit: When testing for this, I did notice some quirky behavior when changing view modes effecting drift and pan controls in view mode 2 (the TrackIR values need to be reset when changing modes to resolve), so I'll be working on a fix for that for the next planned update.

Edit X2: I've uploaded a new build that corrects the drifting and panning controls in external view modes when using TrackIR along with some other improvements I'd been working on. See if this build corrects the behavior in view modes 2 (player-to-target) and 3 (target-to-player) in case those weren't working before.

Sorry I was referring to external views - I choose cycle to go from cockpit then to chase then to external. It is from the external view of my ship and others that I use them.

Yes, I use trackir.

The first time they worked.

The next day they didn't.

Thanks for the fix :)

Do I need to download the next version from the dropbox again? I started it and could not see how to update it?

You can do that or use the link in your registration e-mail (I can resend it if needed). Then just run the installer to update. When installed, the main menu will show '2.0908' as the version number in the lower right corner of the screen.

As this appeared to be more of an in-game/bug issue rather than a technical issue, I'll likely transfer this over to the AA forum soon. It was a quirky issue that would sometimes disable panning view controls, but not always. If some input was applied in an earlier view mode, the pan controls might still work in modes 2 or 3. So it was indeed an intermittent problem. This build should correct any issues with the key/button pan controls in external view modes when TrackIR is being used for 3D pilot head control.

I installed 20908 and found something.

Firstly the problem is fixed, thank you!

I could not find ZOOM OUT and ZOOM IN in the available keys to bind.

However the DELETE key and PAGE DOWN keys do in fact ZOOM (same as EL) however they are reversed.

Just letting you know.

Glad the problem is now sorted.

Zoom in/out are indeed not mappable and are only activated in 2 of the external view modes. They are backwards from EL (zoom in on left, out on right). If it doesn't risk breaking the scancode template, I will try to work in modification options for those (will be on page 3).

Edit: Ok, I've implemented a new control save template, porting system to update the original format to the new version, and added indexes for key, game controller button, and mouse button inputs to the remapping menu for those zoom controls. This required a lot of changes and additions, so I'll spend quite a while testing things to see if any bugs exist. If all checks out, then I'll roll out an update with the new options soon.

Edit X2: Things have checked out well and I've run through a series of old template to new template and remapping tests with success. The update (version 2.0918) is now available for download.
