problem with the transporter quest (ALLIANCE)

Post by rodrigo »

Hello guys im playing since mercenary but recently i bought a new pc and of course, evochron legacy :)

I have to say congratulations to the dev for such a masterpiece game. I love every detail about the game, this game deserve a whole studio team to develop this beauty.

lets go to the real question.

Im stuck in a stage from the transporter quest, they request to go 8 sectors north from saphire to locate something but 8 sectors north means what??? Z axis???? and 8 sectors from where???? from a station or from one of the saphire stars??? when i get there i will need to build a sensor?????

Thanks for the attention

From a brazilian fan of the game :)

North usually refers to the default map (seen when you press button 1) ... which is the overhead view. Ergo, it would be along the Z axis. As for where to start, try using the planet called Sapphire. In any case, IIRC the quest was scripted when the Nav map only expanded to about ten sectors. It now expands much further, making it possible to spot many of the celestial objects further out. But, if you're still have trouble getting to the next stage of the quest, you can check your current stage when selecting your ship ... it's listed, along with a lot of other data, on the left-hand side (there used to be a screen shot of the list until photobucket decided to charge a fee for linking its pix). Make note of the stage number and post it here.

i figure out by myself but thanks anyway Marvin. Now im really stuck and im afraid i will need to start a new game.

here´s the situation:

in a certain stage of the quest i jump using a alien gate to vonari space, the game talk about escape using a wormhole one sector south vonari homeplanet, ok i didn´t find any wormhole in the indicated area, the only gate is one more then 10 sectors north to andromeda. Its a blackhole and i dont have a starmaster to jump in without exploding.

so im stuck at vonari space please help (lol)

When you went looking for the wormhole, did you check the list of objects? Left side of the Navigation map? Also, make sure you're using the Vonari home planet as a reference. If the wormhole doesn't show up in the list when one sector south of the first planet (IIRC, there should also be a station listed in that south-side sector), open up the Nav map and look for a second planet.

Btw, most any ship will survive a trip through a black hole. You just gotta know the technique. Found somewhere in the quest titled "The Cosmic Glitch" ... I think.

Then there's all those wormholes to the east ... either in Vonari space or in Riftspace. I forget which. But, if you come across them, at least one of them will port you to safety. The trick is to find the correct wormhole. In other words, it pays to save early and save often.

I have done this too now. Found the wormhole, but now the quest doesn't give me any more goals. Is this the last step in the quest?

SPOILER ALERT
Unless I miss my guess, if you took the correct wormhole, you should've been transported to sector 3500, 0, -1800 ... and, from there, you should've gotten the following message:
The information you've brought back is
troubling. When the solar flare energized
the portal, it opened a gateway to Vonarion.

HqIntel suspects that the portal can be
operated from the Vonari side. If so, then
the threat to the Alliance is of the utmost
concern and must be dealt with immediately.

Return to the hyper-gate and monitor its
activity. We will relay any new observations
to Naval Command for review and disposition.
Since those quest waypoints aren't hidden (sometimes they are), you should be able to open the Nav map and zoom in on the suspect star systems to see the quest icon. In fact, almost any time you get lost, the icon should help point the way.

I'm not exactly sure where you are in the quest but, if it's somewhere around stage 101, the correct wormhole takes you back to somewhere around stage 30 ... and into Pearl. The problem is, if you're still in Vonari space and/or the next stage is in Vonari space, you probably won't be able to see the quest marker. But, if you passed that stage, then look into the Pearl system, using the quadrant map, for the marker.

ok, I just had to go back to pearl it turns out.
But now I'm really stuck.
I am at the part where it sends you to cerulean and tells you to find "the wreck".
What the hell is "the wreck"? I found some shipwrecks, including a vonari one, but no quest update.
When I click "view quest message", nothing comes up.

Evidently the transceiver aboard the wreck
is still operational. Both we and Hq NavCom
are receiving your signal loud and clear.

Historical records tell us that this ship
was exploring the Cerulean system during the
height of our 100-year war with the Vonari.
More likely, it was patrolling the area for
Vonari ships and found itself outnumbered.

Sensor readings indicate another object is
nearby. If you haven't already done so, close
on the object and investigate. Then RTB back
here in Pearl.

If you found the wreck (see in-sector coordinates in the above stages), then you need to get really close (300m ... as dictated by QuestLoctn=1) before you will get (IIRC) two messages. One message is default for the wreck and the second is what's in the dialogue (chat) box above.

P.S. If you open the quest file with Notepad, you can change all QuestLHide=1 lines to QuestLHide=0 ... which reveals the otherwise hidden quest marker. Then save the file.

When you're in sector 2400,0,2100 and approach the wreck at in-sector coordinates 78015,-4932,28000 you should advance to the next stage. If you're still having problems, just load Quest2.txt into Notepad, delete all the QuestLHide lines (or change any =1 to =0 for that line), save the file, launch the game and look to see if there's a quest icon in sector 2400,0,2100. If there isn't one, then go to the quadrant map, zoom in on the 3500,0,-1800 star system (probably Pearl) and look for the quest icon. If it's there, go to it.

Also, check the option to display the last quest message to see if it's the one listed above. If it isn't, post which quest message you last saw.

That's my point. I don't get any quest message anymore when I do that.

Also, I totally found that wreck already and bumped into it, and nothing happened.

What was the quest message you last saw? And was the quest active when you bumped into the wreck? Did you see the quest indicator after completing the above steps and checking the quadrant map?

I'd be curious to see what step you're at to test it also. Could be a staging thing depending on how the quest was set up (that is, some anchor points in a quest might not be left at a message retrieval stage, so only the destination marker might be available). If you'd like me to give it a try (and maybe set the profile where it may need to be for recalling a message), you can attach your current save game at that stage to an e-mail to me (starwraith.com > contact).

What Vice said. Stages 38-41 have no chat text and both stages 38 and 41 have a hidden quest marker. If you're stuck somewhere among those stages, then the last quest message you received is probably:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>\101
From: FOB, Glacia

Our experts cannot positively identify the
scene coming from either side of the object.
Both NavCom and personnel at Central Command
agree that the only viable option is for you
to enter the portal.

Once on the other side, find the wreck and
recover any available data. If the planet is
inhabited, CentCom can relay a message to you
via local hyper-space radio.

Signed, FOB-Ops
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<\101
Which is why your best bet is to edit out all the hidden quest markers.

I'll try bumping the wreck one more time. I know which one it is now.
