[Change Request]Add IND ships to MP.

Post by Commando950 »

In Evochron Legacy one of the most interesting things at stations is seeing a large amount of neutral IND ships. They are great to talk to and request information from and make a good "busy" looking environment. Due to them being quite lacking in multiplayer(I don't think I see them at all actually) the stations look pretty abandoned. Of course maybe there is a limitation because of multiplayer on the amount of ships in a sector.

So I would just recommend buffing up the amount of IND ships a bit. 3-4 would probably do the trick at a station to give it a more busy look. Planets also have no IND ships show up.

Thanks for reading!

The IND (independent) option is designed from the ground up to be a human player only option, while NPC/AI ships will take sides in the persistent conflict. However, you can encounter/establish IND AI ships in single player via the fleet option if you are IND and recruit other ships (they will align their faction affiliation with yours). In multiplayer though, everything is structured through the MP faction system where human players can choose their affiliation fully independently and link into contracts, engage in combat, or do other things through that system (effectively a MP fleet structure). So if you are encountering IND ships through some other mechanism in single player, I'd be interested to learn where as there may be something not working correctly if you are seeing a large amount of them some place. All NPC/AI ships should be marked either ALC or FDN, unless they are part of your SP fleet.

You can still open trade links with NPC/AI ships, you just need to be IND and open the link connection with either ALC/FDN ships (which will appear yellow), or be either ALC or FDN and open the link connection with allied ships (which will appear green).

Thanks for the reply.

Fair enough I guess.

Could it be possible to at least make stations look less dead with more traffic in MP?

Generally there is just one to three ships in one station I can see and planets look very empty with traffic.

Thanks!

1-3 does sound a little lean, although that can also vary based on location and there is index space reserved with the goal of filling them in with human players. I'll review the placement systems to see if it's practical to populate things further near stations/cities.
