Tried the demo...

Post by durielk »

I am so glad I found this game.... Last one I got into was Independence War 2 and am looking forward to this one. I dl'd the demo and it looks great and seems to be running ok on my desktop. This one seems to have similar newtion physics, which is what I love. Can't wait, but my joystick/mouse/keyboard interface needs a major work.
I am an engineer and would like a copy of the manual to get the demo setup to really give it a go. I am not so good with the in-game tuturials. Can someone email me the manual too? That would be great, and I'll have something to keep me busy over the holidays.

At first I thought you had to join steam, which I don't think will work for me cause my internet is not so great (wifi from the top of the mountain), but this simulation can be run off or on line.

Hello and welcome. Yes, this game is also available via direct download without the need for Steam. It can also run entirely offline in single player only without the need for any online account or internet dependencies. The instructions are included with the game in the install folder, open the 'ReadMe.htm' file to view them. They are also available online here if you'd like to browse them that way: http://www.starwraith.com/evochronlegac ... readme.htm

OK I am working with the Demo this week to get the keyboard situation converted to 'my setup'. I am almost there and have completed most of the training, but not happy with where I am at the last combat training with the 3 attackers.

In the Demo, it sayes I have 4 missles, but after working on my keyboard adjustments, I can't figure out how to get them to load so I can use them! I know I got to lock them on, but, the only offensive weapons that come up on the board are the beam & projectile guns, no missles! I have used the 'N', ' ' ', & ':' keys but nothing. How do I know when I got the missles ready for launch?

What am I missing?

When in active targeting mode (default), the missiles are ready to be used immediately without any required manual arming action on your part. The missile listed in slot 1 is the one that is ready to fire. From there, all you need to do is secure a missile lock on the target you want to fire at. The range required will depend on the missile that is ready to fire. Once you have a missile lock, you use the dedicated key/button control option to fire it ( default left shift key, right above the left control key for primary weapons).

OK, thanks, I don't know what I was doing but it is straightened out now. I think with the numbers on the joystick & the game (being one less) I was confused on that one button, #3 on the stick is the same as #2 in the game, etc. etc. I successfully got a lock on the drones and the little tags at 4 corners converge, then u can fire.

Yes, actual index values for buttons (which are displayed by the game and used in mapping/config files) are -1 from numerical indexes sometimes used by control device documentation. I've considered changing the displayed number value by +1 to align with devices that indicate they start at 1 rather than 0, but it would need to be made clear that anything done in configuration profiles/files still needs to use the actual index value which would then be -1 from the displayed numerical value. I may put that change up in a poll to review it with players for a while before considering such a change for the next update.
