Re: Recovery problems
There are two types of recovery contracts: (1) objects which have fallen planetside and (2) objects in space. You can find both contracts when docked at a city but only the second type when docked at a space station. Of all the options, the easiest contract to complete is the lost object in space ... when taken while at a space station. Be advised: there is a different technique* for completing each type of contract. So ... first question: which type are you trying to complete?
* If docked at a city when taking a "lost object in space" contract, that object will almost always be susceptible to the planet's gravitational pull. Meaning, the object will probably be drifting away from the designated waypoint and the longer it takes you to reach the waypoint, the further the object will have drifted (toward the planet). If taking a "lost object planetside" contract, the waypoint doesn't move ... but, because of the planet's rotation, the object does move. Consequently, you need to have your radar zoomed all the way out (I use the overhead view) and watch it closely while approaching the waypoint. If it isn't at the waypoint, look for the object in the direction of planetary rotation. The object, be it in space or on the planet, will show as a purple dot on radar.

Re: Recovery problems
Thanks for the info. I should have explained that I was playing Evochron Legends,, Seems to some some bug in it, I cant see anything when I am at the way point. No containers or anything even resembling it.. Took the contract at a space station. (several of them) and never saw anything that looked like a container. I since have upgraded to Legacy and everything seems to be working.. It is really a fun game and my back is sore form sitting at the desk playing it.. Thanks for the help.

Re: Recovery problems
IIRC, it should've been easier in Legends since the lost cargo pods didn't move. You only needed to widen your radar, jump to the waypoint (you didn't even need to exit the station), and drift along the same heading until you saw the blip on radar. Leastwise, that's how I remember doing it.

Re: Recovery problems
That's my memory of Legends as well. It's probably worth aligning you ship with the way marker before you jump - at least it was in Mercenary.
