Issues downloading the Legay demo (and an extra question)

Post by BlueHair »

I'm new hear, so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong area. The GamersHell links obviously don't work, and attempting to use their torrent option just results in their tracker refusing the connection attempts.

I've also tried downloading it from junholt.se, and I've used Firefox, Palemoon, Chrome, and even Avast SafeBroswer (I refuse to use Internet explorer, though). No matter which browser I've tried over the last 2-3 months, the downloads will always stop well before the demo file has completely downloaded. I really, really, want to try the Legacy demo out, before I buy it off steam, but it's been frustrating, since I can't get the download to complete. Is there any possibility of either StarWraith or junholt.se uploading the file to a more reliable file download server, like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc...?

My other question is, while I do have an olderLogitech extreme 3d pro joystick I use for some older games, like the Tie Fighter remaster, and Wing Commander Saga (the one made after Volition open-source the Freespace 2 engine). For Legacy, I was really hoping I could use this HOTAS contoller I use for DCS A-10C and DCS Black Shark (I didn't get pedals at the time, since I was warned they sucked, and am saving up money to try and get one of these from Slaw.

Will my HOTAS setup work with Legacy, and if so, will I need to manually set up the mappings, or is there a pre-made profile I can just import in to the Thrustmaster App, to get up and running quickly? I really hope the timed Legacy demo is awesome, since I want to buy it, especially after the No Man's Sky fiasico.

Thank you in advance, and if this isn't in the right section, could one of the modmin move it to the correct one, please?

PS, I also sent an email to junholt.se, but since I'm on East Coast time in America (-5 GMT), I'm not expecting to hear back from him until later today, or wednesday at the earliest, so I though I'd ask here, as well.

Send me a quick e-mail from the address you want to receive a reply with a link to (starwraith.com > contact). I'll set up a quick download on DropBox that you can also try.

The game should work fine with that HOTAS or the older stick. If Windows can see it and you have a compatible driver for it, then the game should also. You will likely need to manually set up the axis and button controls to your preference, but it's a fairly easy process (for axis channels, just click on the axis channel that responds, then click on the function to bind to it... for buttons, just click on the function and then press the button to bind). You can set up a dedicated control profile for it by editing a text file, but that's optional.

Thank you very much, sir! I'll send you a PM with my email address. After the HUGE disappointment of that certain other space game, I've been dying to test out E:L, before I buy it. One fast question, I know Steam takes their cut of the money, but is buying directly from YOU an option, and if so, how can I do that from the US, and is your store up to scratch, security wise?

I'm also glad to here that it'll work my HOTAS, since I only break it out for certain games (DCS A-10C and DCS Black Shark, and from a fast perusal of the E:L manual, it seemed like this game would be worthy of using with it! :D

Ok, I'll watch for it. PayPal is generally considered pretty secure if you buy direct. Likewise, ShareIt has been in the industry for a very long time and you can evaluate their security and certifications on/from the order page. Other details we can discuss via e-mail.
