Ship "level" designation when targeting

Post by icattanach »

Is there a mod or function that will display the "rank" of the ships available to target? E.g. Talon would be displayed as C01-Talon, C06 Sentinel, F04-Firestar, etc.
I realize time/experience will make this obsolete at some point but at this stage it would be extremely valuable tactically.

No, not currently, it's up to the player to learn the classifications in terms of frame type. Also, frame type doesn't always determine the threat level (or 'rank') of a ship as some of the 'low' frames can be configured for pretty heavy combat effectiveness. As such, you might find a target scanner a more valuable source of ship configuration information overall.

Does the target scanner reveal ship upgrades? I'm only familiar with the cargo scanner that shows goodies in the hold.

From the instructions:

The target scanner provides additional information on the detail display. When active, the targeted ship's engine, resistor, pack, hull plating, module type, and wing class are displayed.

It provides details on the configuration selected by the player in the shipyard for the frame being used.

More details on equipment items and other ship options are available in the instructions included with the game and online here:
