Hi, I decided to go for a military ship and fight Vonari. I can't remember when it began to happen but at the moment I have Shadow frame, some military focused equipment and Excalibur rockets.
Sometimes, can't really associate it with anything, when I deplete my weapon energy bar ("ENERGY" starts showing), it reaches 50% and instantly goes back to 40% (with an audible "click"), charges to 50% again and switches back to 40% and so on and so on. After several tries it manages to charge beyond 50% until next time.
For example it happened just now, when I was docked at military cruiser. Started the game, the weapon energy was 0, started filling up, and oscillated between 40-50% as described above. Really annoying when you need to make a jump during a mission.
Any help would be appreciated.
Is this a bug? (Weapon energy oscillations)

Vice will probably ask you to save a copy of your profile at the point where the bug occurs so he can test it.

That happens when you install a shield recharger. It will consume energy from your ship's main supply to boost shield array levels. Good for defense with +5 set to the weapon system, but not so good when you want to make fast jumps or need the weapon energy for attacks. Simply unmount or sell the equipment device when you don't want it to do that.

Oh ok, I don't see any practical use of that system though. In both defensive and offensive situations it prevents you to do things (either jump to escape or effectively use guns).
Anyway, thanks for the info. I'm gonna get rid of that stuff.

It is a somewhat controversial piece of equipment. While limiting on attack and jump options, some have found it useful for delivery, spying, and recovery objectives in hostile/disputed space. For example, with spying you can better maintain close range with a hostile capital ship firing flak cannons at you along with incidental particle cannon impacts. Since you don't need to contend with shooting back or jumping away, it can provide a nice advantage during a challenging objective like that.
