Adding anything to the Legacy game?

Post by matchbox2022 »

Any chance of adding some subtle things to the game?

For example, I feel like any passenger trading missions, or any dogfighting / planetary base protection / assault missions are completely missing.....leaves the game lacking a bit now.

As far as graphics goes...I really like them still, but was going to suggest

1) The possibility of aurora on the night side of planets at pole latitudes, where that planet is in the vicinity of a star (not moons, and maybe not all planets)....perhaps different colour ones or ones that change colour over time with different hues occurring (if anyone's played star-fleet command and seen an ion storm, a little like that.) Be very cool to fly through them like the planetary rings, maybe they could affect your shields slightly too.

2) The potential for eruptive animations, such as on volcanic worlds or a star where lava / plasma could be shooting up into the sky glowing red (and causing damage if you hit it like an asteroid collision would).

Vice actually put passenger transport runs a-la EM in the game a few updates ago. Unfortunately, they're SP-only. You can find 'em in the Crew Info panel when docked.

To get planet-side combat contracts, visit a city in a disputed/hostile region. You may have to cycle the contracts by completing one, then returning to the city. Be warned though: they can be very dangerous due to the lack of room to fight in. Missiles are exponentially more dangerous on planets, especially if the AI decides to lob a lot of them at once.

Auroras... I don't know. I feel like they'd be too out-of-the-way to experience, unless they were visible from orbit and not too difficult to put in the game.

Instead of volcanic eruptions, I'd like more volcanic worlds period - Onyx Alpha is the only one there is that I know of. There's likely a good back-end reason why the procedural system gen didn't produce any (maybe Onyx Alpha's textures weren't in the pool for the game to choose from), yet I felt that volcanic worlds and planets like Cerulean Prime, with its bio-luminescent lakes, ought to have a few doppelgangers lurking in the void. Perhaps even a handful of ocean worlds (achieved by raising the sea level by about 15000 or 20000 units, likely would require hand-placement by Vice and technical issues notwithstanding).

Vonarion is another volcanic world.

so there are actual AI battles that occur on planetside as a separate mission entirely?

And honestly for visuals I think it'd look beautiful / wonderful, just like the rings do. Keeping it to the night side would be less distracting but would look killer reflected on the water...and don't think it'd be crazy hard to accomplish.

There is indeed more volcanic worlds out there including vonari space...the erruption thing might be hard to implement though.

When docked in a city, look for either Ace contracts or those which don't specify shipping lanes. Then, after taking said contract, remain planetside ... if you fly into space in an effort to shorten the trip to the combat area, the AI will most likely follow suit, merging with you while you're still in space.

would still love to see some defend this city or attack this city as contracts....

Well, moreso, I'd like to see aurora around planet poles every so often that change their colour hues over time :P

Very much so like ion storms in this video of SFC

Images like that while going around the dark side of a planet would be fantastic, and couldn't see it being too crazy to make happen. Even ED doesn't have that.
