There is an updated version of the planet-finder, compatible with EL ... and I believe it has a map.

Is it on SeeJay's site? :)

I've downloaded the Legacy customization zip file and am reading the guide but I have a couple of questions. I flew EM for well over a year (maybe 2) and did a few mods and one of them was the jump gate flash which I was able to turn it off.

I tried this but it did not work (from the guide):

...
Jump Drive Effect:

To change the jump drive effect, create a text file named hidefade.txt in the game's install folder where the EvochronLegacy.exe file is located and include either the number 1 in the first line:

1 = Fades the warp tunnel to black rather than white. Only the central lens flare effect remains visible.
...

If you read it there seems like a "... include Either the ... " but there is only one option. When I see an "either" I expect and "or". I did exactly what it said do, but no go. I don't like the blinding white light. I made a basic text file with Notepad which worked with EM.

Also, do all the mods in the customization package I downloaded from the link on the Guide page work with Legacy ? What did I do wrong ?
I used some Merc perch cockpit mods before and may try a few with Legacy. Most worked great in EM.

I bought Legacy a couple of days ago so I'm on board again for a few years.

GL and HF

edit: Gosh the flight model for Evochron is so much better than that other game.

The attached file should work. If you installed the game via Steam, you'll need to ask somebody else where to put it. If you downloaded and installed the game directly from the Legacy DL page, just put the file in the main game folder.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thank you.

I'll apply it tonight when I get home from work.

edit: I DL the game from here (I'm not a steam person). I have the same in the file I made. I must have put it in the wrong directory. I have to try it out later. Too bad work gets in the way of my fun. 8)

:o Sometimes all it takes is a misspelling. I've done it myself. Called the file, for example, hidfade.txt or hidefad.txt ... only to have Vice point out the mistake. It happens more often than I care to admit.

That did it !!

I had the same file with a "1" on the first line. I also had a ".txt" in the file name extension and I took that off. Plus I put that hidefade.txt file in all directories that were Evo ... because when I DL'd it, it made a couple of directories probably because I had a hiccup during DL. Oh well, it does not matter cause now it works. woo hoo

Thanks again

Hello,

Thank you for answering the question about the constructed buildings. It seems the only thing they do is "give you more influence" and you can't actually use them in any way (I mean storage, Living Quarters, etc.) I'd submitted two threads (as didn't notice threads require approval) about it, they can now be successfully deleted I suppose. :)

Wish those buildings had some functionality, but at least now I know that I wasn't "doing something wrong" I suppose.

See you in space! :)

Posts only require approval when you first register with the forum. As for deleting posts, you should be able to delete your own posts if you really think it's necessary.

Re: New Legacy pilot with a few questions

I've been progressing so far but I've hit a problem I can't yet figure out.

I have a Build Constructor. I tried to start small and I placed a power module and a couple of living modules which all went well. But when I tried to place a Command module (after going to mine more metal ore), it would deny letting me place it.

I either get a message that says placement was denied because it had to be "within -80k - +80k" (of what??) ... or it says a command module already exists in that sector. (I tried stepping across a sector line and place it to no avail)

Any help would be appreciated. I've read SeaJays site and the Evochron Legacy Instructions documents. So far I can't figure it out.

I am trying to build in Pearl. I tried over a dozen places around Serenity and Tranquility and an asteroid sector. None worked. I even went to Rucker and it would not let me place the command module there either. I think the key is finding out "-80k - +80k" of "what" may be what sets me free - but maybe not.

I went back to where I placed the living and power modules and destroyed them thinking that had something to do with my problem. I tried placing a command module there but it said one already existed in that sector (again). So, I've given up for now.
I recall from the Merc days, it took me several tries to finally get a station placed. I ended up with a couple in Lost Rucker.

Thanks for any help I can get.

Only one command module is allowed per sector. So for that part of the equation, look for another command module icon on the nav map in the same sector. Pearl is already pretty well built up around planets in that system, so you'll need to find an empty sector that doesn't have a command module in it in order to build more in the same system.

The +80K/-80K means you must build the command module within that range of in-sector coordinates. So check your build location in the build console. Your X, Y, or Z, position value is outside of that allowed range. Move to a location slightly closer to the center of the sector until those values are low enough, then build.

Thanks again. I got a command module built and will start expanding my new complex.

I went back and read the Legacy Instructions again and did not see the importance of location specified. I did watch a video and the person mentioned having the build point near 0,0,0 but they did not explain why.

But now that its worked successfully, I'm a happy camper. All is good. Have a nice day.
