Simulation Options

Post by ulukinatme »

I'm new to Evochron, playing just a few weeks now. Loving the game, but I'm thinking I may want to adjust some of the simulation options that were available when I created my Pilot. I don't see anywhere these can be adjusted, although I've just looked through the UI and perused a few of the game files. Anyone know where these settings are stored and can they be adjusted? I have a feeling the settings are stored in the pilot saves, in which case I'm probably screwed.

If you mean your chosen faction or career that you chose in your profile creation step then they are fixed, though you can obviously change careers and inevitably will do as you progress. If you play MP you can choose which faction to play for that session, so you can play a Fdn profile as an Alc - for that session. In SP your stuck with your initial choice. However you can have 100 profiles so you might want to run one of each main faction.

If you're talking about resolution, shadow, detail etc, they can be changed at any time in the options menu.

Welcome to the game and the community :D

I believe he is mentionning the territory control and economy simulation options that you can enable/disable at the same time you choose your faction and starting ship. As far as I know there is no way to change these options after the initial choice unfortunately; I also wish I could change them without restarting from scratch. ^^

Is that a one off change or being able to swap back and forth at will? :)

Correct, I should have specified further. I'm interested in changing the Econ/Territory settings, and I had a feeling there may not be a way to alter them. Maybe something that could be added to the game? I honestly wasn't really sure what to enable/disable when I started, but after playing a bit I kind of feel like I have a better idea and want to disable a few things. When I cleared the Alliance out of the Sapphire system and destroyed their stations it severely crippled the Tech and Econ levels (Dropping Tech from 80s and 90s to 0 lol). I've tried building a bunch of Production modules, but so far several modules have only increased Tech back to an 8.

Same here, I went with the 'default' options when I started and I'd rather stick with a more static economic simulation since I'm not really into building lots of stuff. I can live with those choices though and I can always set a local server up if I really need to mess with those settings.

I believe, if it's technically feasible, that we should be given the option to switch those settings back and forth at will, in the pilot manager for instance, since it can be done with servers (config files and faction choice on login) being able to do that in solo play shouldn't matter in my opinion. :)

So, if you setup a local server, change those Simulation options, then save your pilot it should extend those changes to single player?

No they won't, the simulation settings will only apply to the server. Only your pilot profile, rank, belongings etc can be transfered back and forth from SP to MP.

But if you need to change the simulation settings for any reason, it might be quicker to set a local server up and play in it for a while rather than restarting your pilot from scratch.
