It t'was hilarity.
But a little big for forum real-estate space.
Haha, Im surprised someone complained actually.
Yoda was always a pimp, I don't think any star wars character was unscathed.

New Legacy pilot with a few questions
I think it was part of Luke's training hehe
Not sure if anyone complained, but the image was suddently gone, not showing anymore. So i assumed an admin took it off. So i Went to my profile and removed it from my signature.
On a different (less harmfull to Luke) topic, im having a blast starting my game from scratch, now that i know what im doing.
Made a few millions picking up crates with expensive goodies, and i got my leviatan back!
Now, About that walker...

Benzin,
2 things that I didn't see answered.
1. Scuttling - You have to press 'ALT' to get the scuttle message to show up. ALT unlocks the mouse cursor. I had the same issue of not seeing the scuttle button until I got real close and pressed 'ALT' and it showed up
2. Exploring can be made a little easier if you learn how to use this tool and how the sector names work. When you're traveling, if you have your navmap open, you'll notice that after a certain distance the system name changes. For example (this are purely made up names and numbers). I could be in the Pearl system, and my navmap says 'System: Pearl'. I then start flying east. After about 3 jumps the system name changes to X123. I back track a few jumps to locate exactly where the crossover happens. When you find that crossover, you will be exactly equidistant between Pearl and X123. You can then find another crossover point and use this information to locate where the hidden system is.
Here is a link to a tool that helps, along with directions. It's still confusing so I'd be more than happy to stream how to do this and you can watch: http://www.evochron2.junholt.se/ (click on tools and you're looking for the Trilateration tool). Once you understand how to use it it becomes much easier and fun to find hidden systems. You're not just flying blindly but have a bit more direction. It's still fun sometimes to pick a direction and go and see what you find.
Let me know if you want me to show you how to use it.

Good to know since the Alt key isn't required when flying with a joystick instead of the mouse. From post: 186446, Topic: tid=12512, author=Bodega wrote:1. New Legacy pilot with a few questions
Thanks a lot Bodega!
Truth is i did not press the ALT key, i was waiting for the scuttle button to show up, and then pres ALT to press it. I will test with a sensor station.
About exploring, ill be completely honest here. Im not too fond of how exploring works in this game. Its basically sit with your arms crossed while your autopilot makes 100 jumps. Then if you do find something, you can basically just take a good look at it, because since you cant place a gate there, you probably wont be coming back. Unless you want to make 200 more jumps. And for the same reason there is no point in building a city or base there either.
How would exploring be more fun/rewarding to me? if i could name newly found systems, build a gate there, then cities, bases, etc. "bring it into the universe" so to speak. Then it would probably be worth watching my screen turn white 200 times from jumping
Anyway, i will be focusing on the other aspects of the game that i really like, building, combat, trading, finding stuff in charted systems via sensor stations, taking sectors away from de FDN, etc. I wish i could include exploring planets here, but since the walker is a "mistery" to wich no clues are provided, i wont be doing much of that either.
I think it goes without saying it, i LOVE the game, im not "complaining" about it, just expressing my opinion on a particular aspect of it.

I use to know this but the old memory fadeth. Could you please enlighten me. Thanks.
Edit: I was going through my old Mercenary custom files and found hidefade.txt 1 = Black 2 = Remove fade. Is this it?
Edit 2: I just tested it and this is the correct file. Thanks anyway.

New Legacy pilot with a few questions
I think a high technology level, near to 100 or even above (?) should get you access to rare and expensive devices, but some must be build by finding the templates first.
The problem to get access to these tech places is to gain the 'rating' to be allowed to enter the stations or other places where you could buy equipment that you won't find elsewhere. So you have to carry out military operations to gain influence, together with Command centers to attract more friendly forces. I will try to go this route.

As long as you're of the proper affiliation, you can enter any station or city. From post: 187569, Topic: tid=12512, author=XenonSurf wrote:The problem to get access to these tech places is to gain the 'rating' to be allowed to enter the stations or other places where you could buy equipment that you won't find elsewhere.

New Legacy pilot with a few questions
Hi, guys!
Question for you about the distance measurements. For example if the space station is 10K away it means I'm 100 kilometers away from the space station, right? When I'm moving at the speed of 1000 per second on the velocity readout the numbers on the navigation display change at around 100 per second like for example 1,000 and 1 second later the navigation display shows 1100 and so forth. Is that correct? Thanks!
Cheers,
Vincent & Cheri

As far as I know, the change only takes place in distance, not in speed. And, when it comes to speed, I use the Navigator's Assistant because anything else just confuses me.

Although extremely rare, terrain walkers can be found at stations. I saw a terrain walker on sale at Tranquility base in the Pearl system during my first hour of game play. Sadly, I couldn't afford it!
Also, Mantis drives can be obtained in systems that are less than 100 tech. I bought one in the Vega system which was at 94 tech. It's all about luck, I guess.

I think it's funny (and somewhat ideal, I suppose) that I can't find a Mantis Drive or Terrain Walker on my Federation combat pilot (which is my main), but found and bought both on my Alliance mining pilot four hours into that profile. I should just fill that last equipment slot on my Nighthawk with a Anti-Missile System or a Shield Recharger, but I really enjoy stomping around planets in a Terrain Walker and find I miss it if I don't have access to it.

Hi, guys!
Question for you. Is there a new quadrant map for evochron legacy, and is there any star systems in y coordinate besides X/z coordinate in evochron legacy. I think the quadrant map in this orum is old-from 2013 and should be updated I think.
Cheers,
Vincent

Re: New Legacy pilot with a few questions
Thanks Benzin for this thread. I just installed the Demo and look forward to re-joining Evochron. I played EM to death and burnout up to a year ~ ago.
So now I need to re-learn what I learned in EM and the new stuff in EL. It sure looks good. Threads like this will be studied for weeks until I get back up to speed.
Has anyone made a downloadable map of the EL universe ?
I had one from EM that I used extensively until I learned where my favorite systems were located.
GL HF
edit: I saw where SeeJay still has his info available. The map I mentioned above was a printable version (printed mine @ 17x22). I would make notes on it to remind me of things to know (I'm old school - and just old). I'll search some more and if I find one I'll post its location.
