I am curious, In EL is it intended design for the quadrant map to have seemingly infinite range? I really like that the nav map became more useful, and that I can see a great distance around me when exploring. I always thought the Nav map should be a lot better while playing EM. But when it comes to the quadrant map it seemed odd that I could be mining in Vega while casually browsing by right clicking then locating planets and stars in the outskirts of Olympus Prime. The fun is still in visiting those systems even if some of the mystery has been removed from exploration.

Question about the quadrant map
The quadrant map is the Michelin Maps of the Evoverse - as Marvin rightly says, the gated systems are so well known to all and hence basic info (planets, stars, nebulae etc) appear - fleeting structures (stations, cities) only appear when you visit the sector.
The fact that hundreds of ungated (=uncharted) systems don't appear on the Quadrant map demonstrates the logic

Question about the quadrant map
In terms of the difference between the actual reality (the Evoverse is infinite) and the practical reality (because your ship needs fuel) there are limits to how far you can travel out of the core before refuelling becomes a limiting factor, the real reality is that you can fly (as opposed to transit through gates, black holes or wild wormholes) from the centre of the core around 20 000 sectors in any directions; given that the systems shown on the Nav Screen are at most around 3 000 sectors (Pearl and Sierra for example) there's a lot more to see.
In fact you can you can explore 33.5 trillion (33 500 000 000 000) sectors. Of course most are empty (as in the RL Universe), but basically you can explore a sphere of space 40 000 sectors in diameter
Without spoiling it, there are many (many) more uncharted systems for each of the named systems that appears on the quadrant map.

Question about the quadrant map
Yeah but picking like that from the quadrant map even zoomed would be so hit and miss.....like moving one pixel would be a huge distance and you still miss alot. From post: 188200, Topic: tid=12690, author=Kuros wrote:I am curious, In EL is it intended design for the quadrant map to have seemingly infinite range? Question about the quadrant map
I've heard your opinions and your theories as to why the map might work that way. Doesn't exactly answer though as to if it's intended design but I do appreciate the feedback anyway. It's not bad I've just had games ruined for me if I learn that I've been unknowingly using an exploit. That's why I wanted to check because it feels like an exploit to me. I can select an area that I know there is a system in, then select around and see the edges of it, so I don't see that moving the mouse a single pixel misses a vast amount of space. I only miss something when it's too far below or above me, Moving and rescanning will reveal stuff I missed because of it.

Question about the quadrant map
I have recently suggested to make important objects and even stations visible once you have visited a system. But this is a bad suggestion, because of the exploit to quickly fly through the systems and have all the infos you need. Then you would not even visit those systems which is bad for different reasons.

Question about the quadrant map
Although ... if you built a station in some sector, you might expect the crew manning the station would be transmitting a more complete list of objects in that sector.
