I mean in EL, single player, the stations in place when you start the game, not those you build yourself.

Did you succeed in destroying some, and how big a fleet and which weapons did you use?
What were the consequences for territory / economy ?

Thanks,

The stations can be destroyed. As to how, it's been too many game updates ago that I managed to destroy a default station to know for sure how to do it now.

I lack the firepower to take out a station, and I am not certain that fulcrum torpedoes have much effect on stations.

It used to be that you could hide and punt the thing from a crevice, but they have that covered now.

Thanks, at least I know they can be destroyed, that^s enough info for me, I will try to figure it out.
I only wanted to know that I will not be trying in vain...

I have used maxim-r with good success at taking out stations, just need patience and time.
No more torpedoes, they are gone.

Disruptors weren't changed to become damaging weapons, they might've taken out the shields had changes went through but I think the community wanted anything effecting stations axed and severely limited.

I'll be very curious to see if these huge turrets have unlimited ammo or not, I guess yes :P

They do not appear to run out, but you can avoid being fired at with good approach technique.

 They also only target one ship at a time. Which is where, for IM, Starbuck comes in.

I have planned to do a major attack on stations in Emerald - a system that is often approaching the 100 Tech Level, but for the moment I'm stucked in a far out system very south near Earth in the search of a ...strange anomaly...
Please wish me good luck because I probably have to give up that one :D

This brings me to a suggestion:
Why not introducing some sort of 'mini game' in EL that makes long distance out-of-system travels more uncertain and challenging? Watching a moving ship dot for 20-30 minutes is not fun. Of course I could take a break in the meantime, but that's not why I'm playing EL!...
One idea: a sort of wormhole ring where you move very fast and you must try to stay inside, like a timed race. But if you get expelled, then you will be thrown WAY off-course. That would give the game a punch of fun, I'm sure

That's a pretty good idea xenon.. Even if it wasn't a mini game, I think a sub-light engine would be a great addition to the game. Jumping around in a sector (basically a loading screen) kinda breaks the immersion a little. The sub-light engine could boost you to a speed of 50000 or so. A good speed, and dangerous enough that you would want to plot some sort of corse.

One possibility is that you have to construct such a wormhole, with metals, energy emitters etc.. So you would have to plan ahead and take these inside your ship in the case you get thrown off-course. Also IMO, jump gates should not work at 100% neither.

We had a chat about this building wormhole/gate stuff, though I'd love to see it, I think the community as a whole was against.

Check out that forum thread...wherever it is.

The basic assumption was that it would shrink the size of the Evochron universe. And the only plausible way to avoid the shrinking would've been to make it extremely hard to build a jumpgate (or buy a maxi-jumpdrive). And, if you've been reading the forum lately, you might notice how many players are against having any piece of equipment be too hard to acquire. (Although, admittedly, there doesn't seem to be much complaining about the difficulty of using the engineering lab ... once you get the hang of it.)

Yes, I saw a recent discussion in Steam about the TW. It's hilarious how the players prefer to get everything thrown at them instead of solving problems - say puzzles. But to be fair, that TW puzzle is surely one of the more difficult, I know because I still fail to complete it :)
But I have no problem with that, I will just try again at a later stage, and I accept that I will for sure not solve everything in EL...A challenge has the 2 sides of the coin...

It took me, Denny, Starbuck and Diana to solve the last leg of the TW quest. One person can do it ... but only with a lot of persistence and a little bit of imagination.

In these sort of puzzle messages, every word is important information. What puzzles me is the term 'hunting' for the anomaly... (my English is not the best), I guess it simply means 'searching for', else it would involve some combat or phenomena that greatly impacts your ship...Hard to imagine because I didn't encounter anything remotly abnormal in that planet system. I will have to explore the empty sectors in the vicinity (that is still in the 'Region').

For a moment, I thought I got the jackpot when I saw some sort of Pyramid on the planet, but it was an optical illusion :)

My hunt is still underway,

Yes, hunting means searching. And region means ... well, the eastern region of the U.S. isn't just the state of New York. ;)
