Evochron Legacy...hiding the message log ?

Hi ! I searched (googled, searched here on the forum and in the ingame help and readme file as well) and haven't found an answer to this:
Is there a way to totally hide the message log ?
I know there is a key to remove messages but if another one pops up, i will still see the message log. While useful, there are times where i would like to hide it entirely.
Is it possible ?

You could probably move the chat window off screen using the chattext.dat file. Maybe. I think instructions are in the Customizing Kit's ReadMe.

You can also change the location of the text chat/message log. It is recommended that you do not change the pixel offset values or the Y position value, unless other mods you have need special adjustments. If you move the message log to the left using negative values for the X position, the mouse pointer will automatically toggle to the control buttons and slider on the left side of the log when you move the pointer to the left edge of the screen. Then when you move it away from the control buttons and slider, it will return to the main central area of the screen.

chattext.dat
1st value sets the red color (0-255, default 100)
2nd value sets the green color (0-255, default 255)
3rd value sets the blue color (0-255, default 255)
4th value sets the X pixel offset (usually leave at 20)
5th value sets the Y pixel offset (usually leave at 50)
6th value sets the X position (ie -7.5 for widescreen displays)
7th value sets the Y position (usually leave at 0)

But then, i will never be able to see the messages, right ? Or the view moves to the chat window if i unlock the mouse ?
I would like to have an option to show/hide it, just like i can show/hide the HUD (but if i can move it to another part of the cockpit, it would be even better

).

Sorry, i'm pretty new to the game and i think i should have posted this in Rookie Pilots / Newbies ... feel free to move the post there if you think it would be more appropriate.

Right-click the [x] at the top and it will change to 'minimized' mode. It de-clutters the screen a bit.

You can use the reduced message mode, which caps the limit to 3 lines (right click on the X). That is in addition to the numpad / quick hide option.

To hide the message box instantly, I just press NUM-* (asterix). You can probably make it hidden permanently by modding, BUT: You will certainly miss some secrets in the game
