Have started playing this game recently
I have been playing the transporter alc quest and got to stage 41

2 abandoned ships in space: 1 Vonari 1 ALC

There is a tiny purple cross on my hud which indicates a ship, which I go to and get data from.

When I activate quest to bring up last quest message all I get is a blank line?

The quest seems to have stopped?

Is it broken or am I missing something?

At some points in a quest, the last chat message doesn't display when you either activate a quest you're coming back to or when you select the option to display the last quest message (I just found this out today). My guess is because you stopped at a stage in the quest where no chat message exists ... which, if fact, is the case with stage 41. Stage 41 requires you to get really close to the main wreck ... at which time you should see two messages: one default message from the wreck and one quest message from Alliance Hq. If you've gotten neither message or only the default message, squeeze in closer to the wreck.

OK..Gotten as close as I can to both ships (shield buzzing and giving me data logs repeatedly) and crawled over both with the proverbial toothcomb.

The tiny purple marker seems to indicate an inert sensor station, done the same there and been all around it..nothing.

The quest marker is there whether I activate quest or not?

I cannot get any further in this quest.

I think it's a bug to be honest.

Well, I can either look for an old pilot profile near that stage in the quest and test it myself (the problem being most of my test profiles are FDN) or you can send your pilot profile to Vice and he can pass it along to me for testing. If it's a bug, Vice will fix it. If it's something else, that can probably be fixed too.


P.S. Btw, what does the quest marker's distance readout show? If it isn't 250 or less, you probably need to get closer.

Of all the stages in that quest to stop at, 41 is probably one of the more tricky ones. It's marker value is set to hidden and the location is different from 40. If exiting a quest, saving at the last received message with directions to the next location is probably ideal. If there's a way I can smooth out the process when starting from an unmarked mid-point like that in the game, I'll try to do so.

I have a previously saved game, I will start over from there and see what happens.

If the same issue rears it's head I will send my pilot profile to you.

I will also save at the last message received and go from there.

Take Jaydee's advice: make sure you aren't looking at the wrong wreck. And get close ... really, really close. Some wrecks provide their own chat information ... what you need is the quest chat. They don't always coincide exactly. But they should be close. Roam around the wreck, one side might be more important than the other.

Ok, I'm stuck at stage 41. No text appearing when requested. I remember the message being about a wreck on the planet. I deployed a sensor near the planet but the wreck is nowhere to be found. There are two purple dots in the planet's ring but one of them is a beacon, the other is probably a piece of equipment (I haven't got a mining beam installed so I don't know). Definitely nothing on the surface. White dots only.

Don't let the message confuse you about what might or might not be on the surface. The object you're looking for is in space ... one of the two purple blips you mentioned. Blip. Wreck. Space.

Yes thank you, I have found two objects close to each other. A wreckage of a cruiser and a beacon. The cruiser contains a message about the planet and the beacon contains a tech. Still, no quest update whatsoever.

The wreck has its own message. To generate the quest message, you need to get even closer. If that doesn't work, then you can "reconfigure" the quest file to make it easier to find the activation point. Ergo, if you need to make changes to the file, PM me for instructions. Or do the "Cosmic Glitch" quest ... where you're shown how to make the change.

This is ridiculous. I've touched the wreck from every side, I've flown inside the broken part, I've done everything at this point and still not progressed in the quest. I keep receiving the same message over and over. Please pm me with the instructions. I just want to get on with the quest before I completely loose interest in this game.
