Game freezes on connecting to server

Not sure if this is where I should post this, but yes, every time I try to connect to a multiplayer server the game will freeze on the connecting the server screen. Only way to close the game is through task manager, I've tested on every server in the public list, same results every time.. I really have no idea what to do about this issue, I'm hoping someone can help me.

Make sure your Firewall is allowing the game through. Make sure there is an entry for it when you click the Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall.

Yeah the usual. Run as admin. Antivirus off. Put ur self on DMZ to test if its the router. Turn off windows firewall. Also if u right click the server I think it attempts a mock connectionwhilst giving u a pplayer list. What's ur ois?

So far, whenever this has occurred, it's been an outside program interfering with the game, forcing it to stop when it attempts to connect out to a server. In one instance it was a connection program related to 'Nero 7', in another it was a firewall blocking the game iirc.

It also happened to me when I was running AMD's Gaming Evolved software, but it wouldn't freeze, it just said the game stopped working, went through the regular rigamarole and then let me click close, which it did when I clicked it.
