Let's cut to the beef anyone who hangs around here often knows who I am by now.
You all might remember that "Why can't I sell my cargo" thread kicking around. Well for those who do it was noted that there was never going to be a change to immediate sale to the seller.
I am back with another theory as I still believe that mixing the recently purchased commodity with your existing stack is an inconvenience. From how I understand it, you cannot sell commodities back to the station until some time has passed so I imagine you could go somewhere come back later and then sell them just not straight away. The problem here comes in when there are more than one station who sells these items in the sector and you have a stack which contains a mixed amount from each station.
How do I know if the stack I am carrying can be sold there or not if I know I purchased some stock from both of the same commodity. This might seem like a small issue which granted it is but it seems it would also be a fairly simple fix for simple fact that it is more user friendly.
So I had this thought.. what if the tooltips of commodity stacks listed a "Purchased From" ticker, obviously the engine already KNOWS where the item came from otherwise how could it tick when the item can be sold again. All I am asking for is that we display this information in the tooltip for at a glance knowing where most of your stock came from, maybe even a nice option added to the filter list to filter out commodities purchased from the same station you are at.
Not only do I believe that it would be less confusing as when you go to sell an item that tooltip could be updated as well to show that it cannot be sold here again with the remaining time. You would also know where they were purchased from and filter those out of the cargo you can sell which is much less confusing than simply accepting that some of it may not be sellable.
I know I know it really is a minor issue the whole only xx can be sold out of xxx however for some people knowing this at a glance would be an improvement and a time saver.

It is in the flight event log. The system is not perhaps quite so aggressive as it might seem at first. You can actually bounce around in a system and back, then resell the items at the same station you bought them from. It's not a tight restriction, only a minor one to inhibit rapid profiting from buy-sell looping while docked in one location. It simply encourages travel to trade and doesn't really care where you bought it from as long as you simply move around.

From the Event/Flight Log, "Buy" button*:
[Buy] [7/16:09:53] < Item Purchased - Echelon,1530 > [3503,0,-1797 Serene]
* There is also a "Sell" button, along with "All" and "Contract" and "Event" and "Data" buttons.

I see, the event log I knew existed. However I did not know it was a loose restriction in that case the system is fine as it is.
If it was a harder restriction split stacks would be needed.
