Hello, I have been doing the "catch at least 5 flying specimens" mission and had been catching 5 and turning in the mission. I was out on one mission and caught 16. I figured this would put me ahead when a new mission came up. When I take a mission now and go to the heading marker and return the mission fails. If I sell all but 5 and depart and re-enter the city, the mission fails. I tried this on two servers with the same results. Am I missing something?
After some more testing it seems the game wants me to capture one more critter even tho I had 16 already. Weird.

Biologicals come in different classes, it's possible some of the others are flagged as plant rather than animal. Also, animals are perishable and time sensitive. To complete the contract, you must catch them at the time they assign the contract to you as instructed and bring them back 'fresh', stored animals won't last for long are not considered valid samples for the required timeframe the contract was offered to you. So to complete the objective, you are required to go get the 5 they require of you and bring them back, not just unload old ones.
Edit: The system is a little forgiving in that partial samples may still count. That is, if you have 2 or 3 old/other bio samples in a cargo bay, then capture 1 or 2 more fresh ones to bring the total to 5, they'll overlook the mismatch and grant you the contract completed anyway.
As a test today I rammed 3 birds and collected their bodies then caught 1 bird then rammed the 5th bird and picked up it's body. The game said contract complete when I landed so dead ones must count.
