Just out of curiousity...I usually play multiplayer, and my birds look not like that, no real animation either.

Is there something Im doing wrong? Is it tied into planet detail?

I don't know, unfortunately - I believe the bird video might have been from single player mode, where I have the settings turned up as high as they can go. My card is a GTX 960 4GB - not the most powerful thing out there but it's done the job nicely for Elite Dangerous, X3, and now EL.

The butterfly video is indicative of what I see in multiplayer.

It may be that the servers default to medium terrain detail and that those are tied to the terrain generation engine. Maybe Vice can answer.

I tried single player and no joy. Apparently its a system timer issue.

God knows I haven't a clue how to fix that. Kinda is a shame now that I see what the birds are "suppposed" to do
