So ive spent forever collecting stuff from all over, accumulated and stored it in station hangar, opened up engineering lab, loaded template i found, clickd on all the various parts til they cleared, pressd construct & load, but it said 'no compatible item can be constructed' .
It looks to me that i should be able to make something to sell from this lab, whether its compatible or not, rather than needing a build constructor etc or need more than the five bays i have already!
So, i load template and various parts appear with amounts needed to make the various arrays etc, if i click on part needed, number goes down, making me think im inputting whats needed, i repeat until all the parts have gone, thinking ive done that bit. Or i can drag items from my hangar store and add to the numbers that appeared, if this is the correct way, then how do i know how many to add or when to stop?! Confusing.

Engineering lab?
Well, I'm working on a tutorial ... but it's not finished yet. Here's what the text looks like so far ... minus the screen shots. Maybe it will help.
P.S. Ignore any spelling errors ... the text hasn't been run through a spell-checker yet.The template doesn't show up in either your cargo bay or one of the equipment slots. After you receive
a data message in Chat, the information is stored away inside your ship's computer. To access it, you
need to dock at a station or city and then click on the “Enter Station option.
Once inside the station, a menu of four option buttons will pop up on the left side. Click on the
“Engineering Lab button.
Now you're in the Engineering Lab … but, so far, it's empty. Down in the lower-right corner is a button
labeled “Templates … click on it.
The empty slots in the Engineering Lab now fill up with the items required to build the piece of
equipment for which you have the template. If the abbreviation above an item is confusing, place your
cursor inside the box; a full description of the item will then pop up in the upper-right corner.
Notice that the “Available Resources section at the bottom is empty. If you do have any items, either
in your cargo bay or stored at the station, they will show up in the boxes. Click on the “Cargo Bay and
“Station Hangar buttons to check each storage area. Alternately, you can check the right-hand list in
the “Equipment Configuration section.
Make note of the items required. You cannot build the arrays separately, so you'll need to collect all the
items for the three arrays prior to constructing your equipment. You can store items in both your cargo
bay and in the storage hanger of the station where you've docked. The Engineering Lab will take items
from both places, as required. Whatever is left over will remain in storage.
Prior to initiating the construction, confirm that all items are on hand. After you've collected all the
necessary material, click on the “Construct and Load button.
Using your template, the Engineering Laboratory will then construct the piece of equipment. If you've
attempted to build without having all the required materials, the process will be discontinued and you'll
receive a message indicating the failure.
Once the equipment item is constructed, it will be placed in your cargo bay. From there, you can
transfer it to an equipment slot, weapons slot or hangar, whichever is appropriate.

Ok, theres something up here then me thinks, cause ive got all the required items, money etc
When i load template and it shows whats needed, i can click on items needed at top and they numerically decrease and disappear.
I can also drag stuff from storage onto items needed to increase the numbers. Bit weird.
So simply, load template & click construct/load and it should make something that should appear in cargo, if uve got all the stuff needed. No need for clicks n drags etc
If it is that simple, and i didnt get confused by being able to click n drag stuff about, then i couldve worked this out and you wouldnt have to do a guide
cheers for confirming stuff tho dave.
Ok, so ive just been back to check and now my MemR banks have gone! How can they disappear when i couldnt make anything. I had surplus of everything. Lol grrr

you can also build stuff via trial and error.
a blueprint isn't required if you know the right resource combination for a item.
that's the reason that you are able to drag'n'drop/increase/decrease/remove/swap resource items in the same interface.
i agree, it's very confusing at the beginning.

Aah ok, thx tes, makes abit more sense now having those capabilities, altho bit of a long shot guessing without template.
Deffo think somethings up with mine tho, gona have to go find some more memr banks and try again. Wouldnt mind but im only trying to make a c2 sys repair to sell 40.000 ish. Lol think its cost me dble that scooting about buying stuff. Haha gd ol learning curve

You just need to load the template in and click the button if you have the items. From post: 184058, Topic: tid=12358, author=Tr1gg3r wrote:So ive spent forever collecting stuff from all over, accumulated and stored it in station hangar, opened up engineering lab, loaded template i found, clickd on all the various parts til they cleared, pressd construct & load, but it said 'no compatible item can be constructed' .

There is no need to drag them onto the template further.
If you have the materials all you need is to load the template and click construct.
If in any other way it is still confusing feel free to watch my tutorial on the subject matter.
