I haven't tried destroying a station yet, but if I destroy the Command Module or the Power Module, do the Defense Turrets shut down or keep firing?

If you pop the command, they'll keep shooting you until either you or they are the last one standing.
As for power, not sure, but I'd say they still will.

The command module and turrets are both self-powered.

Ok. So my next question is:
If you destroy a hostile command module and manage to replace it with one of your own, do the turrets 'accept' the override?

So... Umm... Anybody have any advice on taking out stations?
It seems to me that removing the turrets, shields, and command modules are the way to go, then you can 'commandeer' the rest of the station.
From what I've seen so far, attacking anything shielded with lasers and cannons is a very challenging task. Somehow I get the impression that using missiles might be a waste of time.
I'd take out the shield module first, but it seems that it puts out some sort of burst attack that damages my ship's hull by about 25% the moment I hit it with any gunfire.
Am I missing something? If it's meant to be a group multiplayer effort, that's cool, but I'd really like to shape my single player mode the way I want. And, what I want is to take over hostile stations.

There was a way to take down the command module first ... but evidently Vice is plugging that tactic. Which leaves IM with something to do next weekend ... figure out a new tactic.

I'd say this was right on, except it seems that the shield module I attacked also has the EMP burst ability, that Vice added to the Command Module to prevent simple destruction. From post: 183747, Topic: tid=12307, author=CS-ACI- wrote:Hello,

Either that or the shield (at the station I attacked) is close enough to the command to trigger the command EMP to respond.
Either way, I am definitely rethinking my custom weapon's set up and how to attack with them before I try to destroy anything shielded again.
