Youtube Tutorial for Legacy

Post by DeathTech »

Hi guys, just wanted to post for my youtube tutorial I am making on this game.

Because the game has a quite shallow learning curve I felt it was needed to make one for my friends who aren't quite used to this kind of game.

So I thought it would make a video series on Legacy as a guide for them and new players.

If anyone has ideas for complicated concepts to add to the mix. Let me know.

Also small audio warning, you may hear some sound spikes because I have just changed to a professional mic instead of my old gaming mic.

Very Nice. Keep it up.

One thing tho in your description that you got wrong, and many others with you, is the phrase "Steep Learning Curve".

If you mean that the game is hard to learn and that it takes time, it's actually a "Shallow Learning Curve"
- Steep means that you learn a lot in a short amount of time.
- Shallow means that you learn slowly due to it's complexity (Takes time).

Other than that, great stuff.
(I don't mean to jump down on you, just point it out since I see it a lot on several forums)
\"Nothing is impossible, it only takes a bit longer!\"
\"We are not retreating, we are advancing in another direction!\"

I see, I will be sure to correct myself. Thank you for that bit information.
And I'm glad you like the video. I don't know if I said this in the original post but this will be a series. :)

Hi DeathTech,

Nice video! I think this game can always benefit from more player-made tutorials.

One suggestion for a topic you could cover is how to configure and set up your starting ship for the first time. Particulary the "Frame Configuration" screen. It seems that new players don't realise that you can immediately increase your number of cargo bays simply by adjusting the configuration.

Subbed to your channel (I'm Sinbad) :)

Consider it episode 2. :)

I am soon nearing the completion of the tutorial series.
Hopefully I have touched the most basic subjects that are frequently asked about.

If there is anything else let me know. I intend to do the current listing and end the series.
But if you guys have any other subjects you want me to touch on let me know here or on youtube in the comments section.

A steep learning curve does mean it is harder to learn. For example a steep hill is harder to climb.

Its been a little while I have uploaded for this series (bout a week). I'm happy to announce I will be able to (soon) post the combat basics video I record with the lovely people of the forum. (Specificly: Marvin, Sinbad(MCCON) & Delta99).

Aswell as I will be making my small quick 101 guides and adding them as well very shortly.
Starting with the "First Flight" video. Aimed at quickly familiarizing players with just basic movement to fly and land. Aswell as nav points and jumping.

Hope everyone has enjoyed the series so far.

Awesome work DeathTech! Your tutorials provide a very comprehensive coverage of the ins-and-outs for new players... well even vets will most likely learn a thing or two.

I know some of you have been waiting a while for the guides to appear but unfortunately I have had to postpone them for a while. (Due to a friend coming over, and illness) I haven't had the time of day to get any work done. (People following my Youtube channel would know already)

Though I just uploaded a video of GTA 5 and will be working on the guides again.
I hope that I can finish them in the very near future.

Finally got to editing uploading the first guide in the line-up. First flight for new players.

A quick intro to "just flight & nav panel & a tiny bit of quick shipyard".
