Is it intentional that Jettisoning cargo from inventory one at a time destroys it, but hitting 'J' will save game and place cargo into a cargo pod?
I know the cargo pod is intentional but reading the dev journal made it seem like all jettison actions should result in a pod.
Thanks!
Nevermind, re-read the entry in the dev diary:
The cargo container system has also been updated to work with the new cargo bay limits. Containers in open space and on planet surfaces can also now carry up to ten bays worth of cargo. So players can jettison their entire cargo bay and be able to later recover it or transfer it to another player. The trade console has also been updated to support all ten cargo bays for direct ship-to-ship trades as well.

Yes, double clicking on an individual cargo bay will discard the cargo (destroy it). Jettison will just drop it all out behind you.

If you're in place, the capital ship will likely gladly take whatever extra you want to give them. Otherwise, the discard option should allow transfer of the selected bay with the required items. It's been a while since I last tested those systems, but I think that's how they're setup to work.
