I had a talk to Bodega earlier on discord, he said it won't be possible.
But maybe I didn't point it out exactly.
While maneuvering the spaceship (roll/pitch/yaw etc.) , the cockpit is moving due to the accelerations, in order to simulate the pilot's headbob, I assume.
Could you implement an option to turn headbob off like racings sims do?
Or, can I tweak some config file or mod it somehow?
I want the cockpit to be completely fixed to my screen, no movements at all.

I don't think there is an option for reducing accel/deccel. headbob, or weapon's impact shaking, but if enough players lobby for it, Vice might reduce it.

Maybe if it was an option. But, then, it would be an exploit when on line, engaged in PvP, FFA or similar combat with other players. From post: 183207, Topic: tid=12270, author=Rubber Chicken wrote:Vice might reduce it.

Correct, if it was player selectable. I don't see how it could be exploited if a reduction was globally updated though. From post: 183208, Topic: tid=12270, author=Marvin wrote:Maybe if it was an option. How could it be an exploit online, while at the same time you can just turn off the 3d-cockpit and even got a more unobstructed view?

In an effort to minimize that exploit, the 3rd person view shakes when you're hit by weapons fire.

Yes, but compared to flying with the cockpit turned completely off, the new-style civilian cockpit really restricts visibility.

Well, you can fly realistically or you can fly to win. Personally, when flying against AI, I don't see the need to fly in 3rd person anyway. Which is good training in how to effectively use your radar to maintain situation awareness. (If it were possible to scan another player to see if he was in 3rd person, that would be a cool way to pick or reject PvP.)

Honestly, from my past experiences with PvP, I'd say that players in 3rd person view or using 1st person 'cockpit-off' view really had no marked advantage over using 1st person 'cockpit-on' view.
3rd person view is 1st person 'cp-off' mode with a model of your ship added, and correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't support head tracking/manual mouse-looking, or padlock-to-target - just a few basic key-controllable look-around options available in all modes. Perhaps there's slightly better visibility when it comes to seeing where incoming fire is originating, but that's about it.
1st person 'cp-off' mode offers increased visibility and the look-around features of 1st person 'cp-on', but can become very disorienting if looking around while fighting as there's no visual 'cues' to go by to determine ship orientation - when looking away from the HUD.
If you fight with the horse-blinders on - constantly looking forward and using the radar to 'see' around you - then 1st person 'cp-off' mode might offer a miniscule advantage, but really, I can't think of anything in either mode that would really make one unfair over the other.
I know in ED there's an argument over 1st vs. 3rd person, but there's also no poor man's head tracking in the form of a padlock-to-target mode in that game. If you don't have the gear, then you must adjust view manually or fly looking straight ahead. If 3rd person was allowed, then the widened view advantage for piggybackers would be an issue.
Overall, the 3 view options are pretty balanced when it comes to Evochron.
