Multiplayer Server Requirements - EL

Post by viper691 »

I was wondering what kind of specs are required to running dedicated servers for this game. I have several options for dedicated systems that i could bring online that i will list below and my internet connection is 100mb down and 10mb up so i should be fine i would think. I host a mumble server on a raspberry pi 2 B over that connection as well but not really used atm so plenty of space on that. I see that the server is windows based but i had kicked around the idea of even buying another raspberry or something similiar for a low powered option to leave running 24/7. I dont know if i could attempt a wine interface for the server software but all that is depends on the loads per user.

high power least preferred option....AMD 8350 OC 4.2, 8gig, decent vid, win 8.1

older dell quad core maybe 3.2ghz i think 4 gig ram previously used for router

AMD APU dual core 3.8 FM2, 8gig ram - probably most economic of the systems

Alienware M11X R1 laptop (5-6 yrs old)

If anyone has other low power, cheap to operate options im all ears...I really love the raspberry pi 2 B that i am using for mumble as a form factor and economy just dont know what kind of loads the game would require.

Thanks for the help guys

EDIT - Forgot to mention that I am based in Houston, TX so it would be US-CST name yet to be announced :D

Facepalm...just installed server software and found the excellent writeup on requirements etc. I would be curious now to get input on performance and setup issues that i should be aware of from people that run them.

I, too, would like tips on what an optimal build would be for hosting a 24/7 server. (Read: I'm lookin' at being able to host a full 35 folks with graphics on high, and would prefer to keep "low system resource" messages to a bare minimum if not completely eliminated.)
