Hey everyone.

I am about 5 weeks into playing EM with my son and we are loving it. Very cool game. We have been exploring, mining, doing missions, and trying to find a trade route to build our inventory so that we can expand what we can do. I have heard many talk of Lost Rucker as a great trade route but haven't been able to find it. We looked at SJ's site to get a coordinate for the Gate yesterday and were lost in jump space when we ran out of fuel (I have the C5 jump drive now). So I am assuming we need to find the actual gate to get to Lost Rucker? I have noticed that a lot of posts are older on the forum and was curious if maybe that coordinate posted on the site is dated? If it is (or if not), help would be appreciated in finding the new location. If it isn't, our Nav skills aren't nearly where they need to be and we need help:)!!

Thanks

 Well, you don't actually need to use the gate ... but it makes the trip a lot shorter. Personally, that's not the trade route I preferred. Things were simpler in the NE corner.

Thanks for the follow up! So if the coordinates at SJ's site are still accurate, our ship doesn't have enough fuel to get to them. Is it easier to reach the Lost Rucker gate from a different system than Rucker itself? I found a couple other sites that claimed they had the coordinates but they didn't work either and I made sure they were correct before engaging the autopilot. Same results with the Lost Planet in Pearl. That is why I asked the question about some of the dated posts on the forum and things being moved since the release of the game.

Hello,

If you have found SJ's site, this is not so much of a spoiler as a hint.

Use the search function and put 'lost' in the box.

 Oh, I nearly forgot ... the H2GE quest takes you through Rucker into Lost Rucker. Sometimes. It depends on your performance before you get to that part of the quest.

;) Or, if you'd rather not actually do the quest, I think there's a walk-thru at SeeJay's website. Maybe.

Have a look at what a Deploy Constructor can do for you.

Possibly a Spoiler ???---> If you take a deploy constructor you can refuel in a deployed refuelling station whenever you need to. It's the same technique as going to Sol

I don't mind telling you how to get there - secrecy is so silly to me once you know the place exist.
The gate to Lost Rucker is on the left edge of the 2nd Asteroind field on the right in Rucker.

If you are on Mutiplayer (in Chiron or Outer Rim - I don't know about Orion server) there are several excellent trade routes.
(1) Talison to Talison Conflict
(2) Rucker to Lost Rucker
(3) Virgo to the uncharted Planet & Stations
(4) Orion & Sirius have some decent things at the Player stations.
(5) Cerulean & Atlas

The things I've learned and stations I've created I feel obligated to share with new players and hopefully new players won't get so frustrated and leave because there are fewer players online to help out thatn there use to be.
If the oldtimers don't like the "spoilers' then show up on MP and help the new players out or don't complain.
I'm tired of seeing new players come one and stay a few days and then leave and not come back and headding off to Elite Dangerous etc. because EM is empty.

Hi and welcome.

The coordinates on my map http://mercenary.junholt.se is correct.

If you are running out of fuel, you might use the coordinates wrong?
Use the gates to get to Rucker, then use the information on my map for the in-sector position for the gate. (PX, PY, PZ).
When entering a coordinate manually in the F1 - Nav Console, you need to hit ENTER after each value to set it.

Btw, you can't use Autopilot through the gates. AB takes you from A to B in a straight line not using gates. Only use AB
when gates are not needed.

Good luck!

Hi Paul

It's not a matter of keeping it secret as more not giving more info than some players want. I've offered help to quite a few who said that they only needed a hint and would rather find things themselves - sort of like not using the answers to do a crossword puzzle.

All the oldtimers I know are happy to give full help when asked, up to and including going and getting hard to get equipment if the player desperately wants to involve the long journey and hunt or transferring a few (hundred) million credits so the player can get on with more fun things. They tend to be uneasy about publishing spoilers in the forum where they can't be avoided; that's why I change text to navy (just select it to see it in white) or use U2U.

For anyone who wants spoilers (that's why they're called spoilers :P) in abundance there's the freely available Hints&Tips Guide that contains every spoiler known with the exception of landing on Earth in one piece! ;)

Thanks Paul. I actually found it and it was right under my nose:)! I do like finding things on my own but in such a vast area it becomes tedious. Finding a good trade route and generating income so we can build and travel is a big deal. I like the game but we wouldn't play long if there wasn't some type of growth.

I will check out the other routes you posted! I hit multiplayer yesterday and there wasn't much out there. The server I tried to get in wouldn't allow me. I know I am late to the game so I am sure interest has dwindled. Are there specific servers where you can team up with others still?

Again, thanks for the input. I agree with you.

Hey volunteertown, welcome to the game :)

What is your timezone ? I think the server with the more people is currently Outer Rim. It's US based but the ping is quite ok from the EU too.

I'm late to the game too, but there are still some people playing it online and it's great fun when you meet someone and shoot some Vonaris.

Fly safe !

Try hiring a Science Officer - they point out things in the sector that are 'interesting' - giving the in sector coords. Like you, I found searching tedious at first, but didn't realise at that time that a sci officer is almost obligatory if you spend time hunting, especially in quests.

As far as servers - it really a matter of time and location; we're spread around the planet (broadly USA (most players), Europe, Russia, Australia) so try a local server first - The USA hits it's evening playtime just about bedtime in Europe and so we tend to have late nights if we're playing MP in the UK :P

If the server had MP in it's name it means it's an MP only server - you can't use a profile that you've flown in SP (to stop you taking advantage of some SP goodies I believe).

I have no idea what goodies exist in SP that you can't get in MP. Most likely none!
That's why this "feature" is completely annoying. No point what so ever to force people to
start a new profile just for MP playing since it only takes a few hours to get all the cash/equipment you need anyway.

One mistake (click on launch) with a "clean" profile .... Boom, profile ruined, start over again!

Thanks guys.

I didn't realize the MP/SP crossover issue. That is why the server wouldn't allow me to enter. I agree SeeJay. I don't have much time to play so I wont have time to create and develop another profile for MP. It has taken me long enough just to generate credits and learn how the UI works in SP! Heck, now I have to figure out how to customize weapons and build/deploy and actually find some of the stuff my Science Officer tells me is in the sector.

One of the advantages of crossover (non-MP only) is in combat with another player. Not PvP, with rules ... but against guys who play as Vonari or Romulan. And are really, really good. But nonetheless play by a set of rules. Bad Aliens, for example, will only attack a new player once ... unless the player decides to seek "satisfaction" and then finds himself outclassed. With nowhere to escape (every time he spawns, he once again faces the dreaded Bad Alien, who has patiently waited for the insistent re-entry of his opponent).

The outclassed opponent then has three options: (1) quit, (2) exit and join another server, (3) exit and go into SP. If the guy still wants to play (but has tired of getting blown up), he won't quit. But, if there are no other severs available, he has no other option except to go into SP and subsequently move to a location away from Bad Alien ... then exit SP and re-enter the server.

Sometimes that is an acceptable option. But sometimes it's really poor form. Especially if the guy doing it got in the first kill and now wants to preserve his PvP reputation.
