Favorite military ship?
I bombed around quite q bit in the Cerulean War Zone with an Evoc-E and found it to be very good and killed several capital ships with it. I switched to a Shrike when I noticed that they seemed to be the most effective of the sad navy units. I haven't used it in a war zone yet and I am wondering what military ships players like to use.

I haven't used a military ship in a long time ... I don't even remember which one I used. Something heavier than an Evoch, I'm sure ... but also more maneuverable than the biggest.

My top 3:
1. Wraith -
+ It's light.
+ It's small enough that high speed turn-and-burn inside asteroid fields can become a bit too comfortable.
+ It has very good range for only having a 1000-unit fuel tank.
+ Is tougher armor-wise than one might expect.
+ A Repair Unit C3 has less 'ship' to repair, so recovering back to 100% after taking damage seems a little faster.
+ While not as fast as the Evoch models, it's not really that much slower.
+ While not as highly rated for agility as the Evoch models, it's thrust-to-mass ratio allows for more drastic course changes at high speed.*
2. Evoch-E -
+ It's the fastest and has the highest agility rating.
+ Can comfortably travel from Orion to Riftspace and still have enough fuel for a short period of emergency combat if needed.
3. Avenger -
+ It has respectable speed, agility, and toughness.
+ It's my long range patrol craft of choice.
---
*Due to the ability to turn on axis very quickly, the Evoch models have a strong tendency to 'stall out' all of their forward/backward, up/down, left/right velocity to nearly zero
speed if handled improperly. ALL ships have the susceptibility for 'velocity stall' when improperly handled - the Evochs the most.
The Wraith however, having less mass to push around, and an engine/afterburner set that is only slightly less that the Evochs' is a good bit more forgiving. This allows for much quicker changes in flight path direction that would require the Evochs to travel in a longer, more gradual arc to achieve.

I like the Lamprey. Just a bit slower than the Evoc-E, more shield and armor, and firing full blast seems to last longer.

The Firestar is my combat frame of choice. It's a happy medium between the super-twitchy agility of the Evoch and the thicker armour of the Avenger.

If it's necessary to use a military ship, that's the one I use. Anything more maneuverable and I usually overshoot my target. Anything less maneuverable and I usually take too much damage from the gaggle of enemy ships surrounding me. The Avenger is tough. From post: 179496, Topic: tid=12029, author=Rubber Chicken wrote:3. Evoch E.
Though I haven't played in a long time, so mileage may vary.
