This would make playing on my HOTAS so much better because at the moment I don't have enough buttons for all of the crucial in combat keys and constant flight controls. I don't mind going to the keyboard for certain things but during combat I don't think so

Modifier keys?
Is there any way to have an action bound to a double keypress? For example holding button 8 and pressing button 6 will do something different than just pressing button 6. Basically setting up the button 8 as a modifier.

Have you tried using a profiler software?

Multi-key/buttons combinations aren't available for binding, outside of the existing 'Alt' key framework. For that, you'll likely need to use profiling software that came with your HOTAS. If you post what HOTAS system you are using, others can probably offer some guidance on setting up blended button combinations.

Thanks for the response. I'm using a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X which I don't believe has any kind of software for rebinding etc.
I've kind of got my head around keeping my keyboard in reach now anyway but it would still be nice to fit wep/shield power and ids scale onto the thruster
Regardless of that the game is sweet and I'm loving it so far

I use variable axis controls for those functions, which might be an option for you if your controller has some spare rotary axis or slider options. On my X52, I use the thumb slider on the throttle for IDS scale and the upper rotary for energy bias.

There is a free version of xpadder if you google for it (and if you don't want to pay for the latest version) that you can do a lot of things with. From post: 179137, Topic: tid=12013, author=Durgz wrote:Thanks for the response. I used it to remap the dpads and some buttons on 2 different gamepads that I'm using.
You can use it to assign key presses to buttons and multiple keypresses and with time delays and such.
I don't know what feature the newer paid version have the the older free version doesn't have.
I think the guy's web site is pretty lacking in information.
You can even set it up so when you start xpadder it will then start EM after it's configured you controller settings if you want.

I'm using the Saitek X52Pro and in the programming software the pinkie button can be used a button or as a shift key. The X52Pro also has three 'modes' on a rotary switch so each button can have three programmed functions - I tried one for trading/exploring and one for combat - it worked but I prefer the simplicity of using the game to programme all the buttons I need. Does your HOTAS have any of those facilities? I do use a pair of Thrustmaster Cougar MFD's to add 60+ extra buttons for those jobs which aren't 'combat critical'. MFD's might be the way to go.
