Steam.

I can't believe how well you guys have managed to hide this gem of a game.
It's a crime.

I made a good post on the steam discussion page today ,under name MyProfile, about my experience so far with EvoMerc. I would think that the Steam release for E:D would have people scrambling to EvoMerc for a lower cost alternative.
I hope it happens for you, it really is a great game.

Haha, I made a funny.

I too saw this game for the first time on Steam. I don't understand how their is such little hype about this game on steam. Perhaps because it hasn't been on their for as long as the game has been out? In either case, truly a fun game. And Vice, the fact that you are still taking in player suggestions and still updating this game even in 2015 is amazing. I really hope you continue to do so too. This may end up satiating my fix of a space sim.

Hi everybody!

I bought Evochron Mercenary a while ago (I think it's actually a bit over a year now) on steam, mostly because of the good reviews about it. Other than that, it was just a lucky find. At that time, I couldn't really get into the game and later deinstalled it from my computer.

This week, I gave it another try. I did the training sessions and so far: I'm loving it. EM is actually the first SciFi-Game, where blowing up an enemy really felt like I accomplished something.

I'm looking forward to getting even more into this gem of a game. At the moment I'm totally hooked and trying to get my first steps into big space.

Steam, about the same time as X Rebirth released. Several people pointed out EM as a good alternative to the dissapointing XR release (I'm a long time X-series player and played Eve online as well from release).

I actually saw somebody mention it on the Elite Dangerous subreddit. I decided to look into it, as I was rather disappointed with ED, and found this amazing game!

Pretty much the same.... I was planning on maybe buying Elite dangerous, but to me it was lacking many things.... I was searching for an alternative, and found EM :) I'm sooooooo glad I found it !

Technically, the place I first heard of Evochron Mercenary was gamespot.com just over five years ago; somebody mentioned it in a player review of something else space related, I can't remember what. I say technically, since I haven't visited Gamespot in about 2 years, I don't even know if it still exists; the site degenerated and was dumbed-down too much for me.

The main gaming blog I've been reading since though is rockpapershotgun.com (with the occasional kotaku.co.uk visit). That's how I found out about Evochron Legacy and why I just bought it. Strange... since according to my profile I'm supposed to be signed up to the "Newsletter Subscription" and I've never had any newsletters in all the years I've been playing Evochron! So I guess I was lucky to have seen Alice O'Connor's recent article on rockpapershotgun.com about Evochron Legacy - I had no idea it was out. Nomatter though, it's all good and thanks for the 40% discount!

Many, many thanks to you Vice for your continued work, ever improving even more on your already brilliant Space Sim.

Steam had to be good for business. Call me a noob or a bandwagoner, but I've found several great games through Steam that I never thought I would, including Legacy and Mercenary. Keep up the good work!

Come to think of it ... neither have I (not lately, anyway). :o I guess Vice has been too busy with the development and bug-squashing of Legacy.

Browsing Steam for fun, wasting time, was saying man look at all these cool space sims I always wanted to play but can't, bloody old computer.
Then saw EM, thought oh, good he offers a demo.
Blown away by the startup screen, but it kept crashing.
Got blown away again by the support offered when I hadn't bought it yet.
Got blown away again finding out it was one passionate guy making it.
Got blown away again blowing away.....anything, everything, finding out how much cool crap there was to do.
Got blown away by the graphics and that my old craptop could keep up!
Got blown away by incredible warp jumps, lens flares, shaking cockpits and rattling music...the entire adventurous theme.
Again got blown away that one guy made this.
Got blown away by the price.
So basically, lots of blowing later.
I thought it'd be a crime not to buy it.

There hasn't been a newsletter in a very, very long time. But a one man band can't do everything and be everywhere, so I suppose it is to be expected. Shame though, they always made for an interesting read.

Haha the same here. I was searching mods for the X - Series and saw this fine piece of digital art. I can´t imagine to ever play X again. Evochrono is more sim, more logic, less hungry in case of eating your hardware and last but not least it gives the option to explore the universe together.

Wish everyone out there a nice experience in space - maybe we meet there.

I discovered Evochron Mercenary on Steam. I bought a lot of games on disc that required Steam to play, but Evochron Mercenary was the very first game I bought FROM Steam. It's been pinned as a favorite ever since. I've only "logged" 39 hours, but that's just the time I've played online. I'm a truck driver, and stable online connections aren't frequently available to me, so I couldn't give an accurate estimate of the hundreds of hours I played the game offline.
What bothers me is that I didn't even know that Legacy had come out until it had been out over a month! In the past month that I have owned it, I've already put in a solid 30+ hours online and probably only 10 or so offline. It's shaping up to be everything that Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen have claimed to be, but have yet to deliver. Sure, the graphics aren't quite as shiny, but I'll trade that for having a game that can run well on my modest laptop, and offers the depth of gameplay that Evochron has to offer. It STILL blows my mind to know that this is a one-man project. Talk about a labor of love! Vice: You truly are an unsung hero of modern space-sim gaming. The universe that you have created is a universe that I truly love to live in and explore. I truly wish that you were a household name, because you are nothing less than every bit the programming luminary of a John Carmack, Chris Roberts, Will Wright, or Cliff Bleszinski. I can only hope that you continue to evolve the Evochron/Arvoch universe for us dedicated fans that can never stop searching for just one more uncharted planet, one more undiscovered black hole, one more never-before-seen nebula. You, sir, are deserving of far greater recognition. Thank you for everything you've created, and for the things you have yet to create. Keep up the excellent work, and I and many others will continue to be dedicated fans and customers. I really hope you fully recognize and understand just how deeply you and your games are admired, even if we aren't the largest fan base on this planet. Our world, our universe, is just a tiny bit bigger and more interesting because of you, and we all owe you a tremendous debt of gratitude for it. Thank you!
