I don't know, but I think it was Beta_ver who told me on Chiron (I think) that Piranah had deleted an HB station in Atlas and replaced it with one of his own while no one was online. From post: 178523, Topic: tid=7412, author=DaveK wrote:I was on Galactica early in the week and all seemed well in Atlas - it was down to 99% easily fixed.
Logged on tonight and the [HB] stations are gone along with the whole 100% influence. Three [IM] stations and that's it.
There's what seems to be an uncharted [HB] system to the west - which system is it?
Anyone know what's going on?
I think he said the station was named Piranah the Fish or something like that.
The times I've seem him online were after midnight CST USA.
Haven't seen him lately in Chiron but I haven't been on late recently since it does a number on me the next day.
I tend not to go on Galactica or Orion because the latency is too high for me 250ms to off the scale.
Ask Beta_ver - maybe he knows something or keep and eye open for a player named Piranah (though i wouldn't count on that being the only name he uses and he may be in with profiles with different rank).

Nope, sorry, wasn't me, I don't see many people at the times I play, and never had to deal with a Piranha or been attacked without notice yet, or seen someone blow up stations to put their own in place, but I'll be ready for it.

It's not strange really. HB is not on very often so it's pretty hard to have any claims or defend anything. Eventually some more active player/clan will remove our stations. I have no problems with that. The playground is for avtive pilots imo.

I log onto Galactica whenever my playtime coincides with Galactica being available - I suppose the downside of not losing influence automatically is that there isn't anything to do that shows that I care about Atlas. From post: 178543, Topic: tid=7412, author=SeeJay wrote:It's not strange really. It's fine by me as well, but no-one seems to have claimed Atlas, just kicked us out!
Does anyone know which system HB has apparently claimed? - it's W of Atlas between Talison and Fauston. It's at 100%!!
Edit: I've just done a couple of contracts in Atlas to check that it isn't IM claiming it - the clan positions on the nav map aren't very accurate - it isn't. Atlas is now showing 3% HB (2+1), but if anyone wants our ancestral home, it's free to take.

I'll be in the hunting team and join you with pleasure Ironman, I'll do it for free.
I'll also try to protect/escort/train new players when needed, noble activity but also quite fun, even though most times when they see me coming they run away ...
To all new players : I don't shoot people down without either pvp agreement or being intentionally attacked first, you don't have to run away
I come by to say hello, see your ship, help out if you need/want, train you to combat if you like to defend yourself against Piranhas and if you don't want any of that I'll leave you alone.

Heya all, last played 5/29/15 here.
It wasn't me, HB always super friendly and helpful.
I don't know if you guys have noticed but there is quite a bit of buzz on the Steam forums due to the last sale. You could maybe pick up quite a few newbie pilots to train if you pay attention to that area. I know how it is though, when you hit that point its hard to keep going with anything.
I myself logged about 200 + hours in around a months time ( I bought EM 4/20/15). I guess I burnt out to fast.
I'm running E:D now as of the better sale but looking forward to the next release of Evochron. I think that is the real reason behind most of the buzz.
There definitely is / was a buzz recently.

This really is the most glaring flaw of multiplayer in this game and I bet Vice will fix it before the next iteration of Evochron is released.
It is my understanding that any player may change their name, apply any tag they wish and make multiple profiles to be used on multi player servers.
The only real way to find the offender is to peruse the logs of attacked server and expose them publicly as such.
I believe this can be accomplished by matching the connected IP addresses with the name/names and times of offenses committed by said offender.
I do not believe anyone will do this however but I could be wrong and perhaps my simply mentioning might be deterrent to the offense happening again.
[Edited on 6-19-2015 by SamKillitson]
Well perhaps naming and shaming would go to far as a second thought.
Rules are rules though and if someone exploits a game mechanic to skirt the rules anonymously then perhaps something should be done or either throw the rules out the window.

Baby and bathwater!
I use multiple profiles for the various careers I have - researcher / explorer / clan drone / helper / system cleaner / combat assistant / various interesting but hard to get to places so I don't have to spend hours getting their (for example if I have another (usually totally useless) idea about how to land on Earth.)
If I'm going to change career for a while I rename the profile to the usual [HB] Incoming, but if I just want to do a short session - say check a few location measurements in an asteroid cave - I keep the type name and appear as (for example) SurveyMan. Some players have really different collections of persona and want to keep their anonymity when flying as someone other than their commonly known name. Sort of like Zorro or the Lone Ranger
Tags are for clans and to my knowledge there are no formal or informal rules about being a member of more than one clan or even creating one man clans (though a quick look in the dictionary suggests that a one man clan is an oxymoron - but many exist
I hope it's not going to be another example of the majority being done unto because a minority are being spoilers.
And to clarify, I'm with SeeJay - this clan's leader - that HB won't defend against players who do damage when no-one from HB is online. If they want to cause irritation then they are wasting their time. If it's newbie ignorance then it's not worth getting upset about - we were all newbies once. HB has become a nomadic clan - so be it!

Edit: I'd still like to know who created a 100% HB system on Galactica and which uncharted system it is!!
:P

Silly anyway - HB don't saturate systems. Research shows that 20 stations is enough to reduce the rate of control loss to its minimum - so that's what we build. That leaves 30 free slots for indies and other clans to create a base/hotel in HB territory and they are very welcome to do so. Piranah could have built an extra station rather then replacing one! We only build six stations in the centre so we can create a honeycomb cell in spaceFrom post: 178535, Topic: tid=7412, author=PaulB wrote: I don't know, but I think it was Beta_ver who told me on Chiron (I think) that Piranah had deleted an HB station in Atlas and replaced it with one of his own while no one was online.

I for one don't have any problems with multiple profiles or names as long as someone doesn't use them to abuse other players. From post: 178573, Topic: tid=7412, author=DaveK wrote:Baby and bathwater!

Piranah or Pirahna however he spelt it on the 2 profiles I saw used the same name but had different rank.
The 1st I saw of him he was in Sapphire I think with a starter profile - like a newbie - and then it was a bit later that I was bushwacked in Talison Conflict and he had switched to a full ranked profile and hightailed to Seirra after the attack and stayed there until I eventurally logged off later. I wasn't in the mood to try and chase him down and he ignored my suggestion to come fight me face to face when my ship wasn't damaged from fighting a couple of Vonari before he attacked me.
I have several profiles but if I showed up in MP in any of them (except one very old one) you would know it was me.
Not to keep harping on it but I can't stand blatant backstabbers.
It just isn't kosher.

I agree with you totally.
There are always people who's enjoyment comes from spoiling other people's enjoyment. Usually, if they become a major nuisance, the server host will warn them and ultimately ban them. Minor nuisances can just be ignored - they are desperate for a reaction, so just deprive them of what they want!
And to get your frustration/anger out of you system just go and kill a few Vonari!!

Well then the answer is simple.
Allow multiple profiles but implement a master tag, server side, per client copy of the game. That way when little Billy wants to be an ass on his high level pirate pilot profile he can expose all of his other associations while doing so and suffer the consequences along with his associates. <<< If they endorse or harbor him.
Anyway you look at it right now, EM multi player lives on the honor system and that only works with honorable people.
I personally would not attempt to build anything period on an EM server because I know for a fact that anyone can load a full tank of station busters and copy the profile as many times and rename it as many times as they want and there is always a time when no one is on to stop them.
It needs fixing.

I guess I'm naive - back in the days of maxing a system out to 'defend' it, I discovered the 'clone your stat det profile' trick and used it when HB abandoned a couple of its systems - like when you hoover the house you're leaving for the new owners! It honestly didn't occur to me that it could be used as a cheat to quickly take out an offline clan's system. For the task of taking down a clan's system without help I devised all sorts of 'sneaky' tactics like hiding in a station's super structure until the det went off - the hostile clan couldn't easily pick me off in time
Anonymous on screen but revealed to the server log would work if it could be implimented.

If I can give my opinion station destroyed or clan % down. Tye name of tye player should apear when the clan attacked was off. In this case tge clan attacked have a idea of who did that.
Im also for multiple profile. In fact the clan where im into is basically bunch of double profile looking to make trouble into a pirate call sign without reveal is real ID.
Patience as i read on steam discussion some prototype of defence system may be implanted with tge station. But that maybe will be on the new releases.

I personally use alias profiles when online because myself and friends have experienced attacks of the real life variety from former active members. Granted, these things are 100% BEYOND anything the developer has liability for, but I do take my security and privacy seriously. I don't want little Jimmy Hackerboy knowing when I am online.
Trust me, I'd LOVE to continue using my real tag. I'd still shoot you down whenever the mood struck me - with or without warning (as long as the server does not have rules posted against it).
As far as things in-game go, if it has not violated any rules set by individual server operators (which will either be in the server welcome message or posted in an easy-to-find place on this forum or elsewhere), or is not exploiting game mechanics to achieve undesired (by the developer) results, or violating the EULA, then what everybody seems to be talking about is being upset that others don't follow rules THEY want to impose. Honestly, in my whole-hearted opinion, I'm reading a lot of posts that = butthurt.
Have a nice day.
Oh, and BTW - Being shot down one time, then being denied revenge is NOT abuse.
Spawn camping and name-calling and cursing at players is abuse.
Creating stations with offensive names targeted towards other players is abuse.
Just thought I'd clarify that little point.

Perhaps a different slant. Vice created clans to encourage pvp and mass fights. Clans haven't worked because of the difficulty of getting enough people on line at the same time. Therefore the only other option is to prearrannge clan fights at a mutually agreeable time. That might have worked - then again it might not have
But, a few reaking havoc when a clan is offline means that clans have virtually disppeared (with the exception of IM) or have gone nomadic (like HB) or have gone rogue like Iron man's anon pirates . The outcome is that there are few clans left, ziltch opportunity to have large group combat and therefore nothing for Vice to work on a fix for. Many systems are as undeveloped as they are on SP.
I tend to agree with you about what constitutes abuse
But being attacked without warning by someone who runs away is irritating.

For close the subjects my apologies for this misunderstanding happen on you thread HB clan, ( free to open a discussion on another place), I do believe have I heard, piranha is a highly skilled players trying to get some activities into the game by using a different callsign. I personally dont really care of who is it but I just want tell him Thx you to see still some players who are willing and have time to do that. Ill givea hand at HB clan for build again station lost if they desire. My dead players list is kind of empty right now (unless piranha) I got time.
