SPOILER ALERT - Fast way of making money - forget about Pearl...

You want to get Your StarMaster fast? Then read this:
1. Get enough mining money to buy deployer.
2. Deploy your trade station in 2 sectors from another one.
3. You have now a station with license (20% off)
4. Dock, sell deployer and start buying expensive stuff (you have 20% off)
5. Sell it to another station - > Do it few times (I had around 2 mln after selling deployer), If You get enough -> buy terrain walker - this will give you 1 mln per trade, then fulcrums and you can stop whenever you want ( I stopped when bought star master frame and got it nicely pimped with stuff, then had around 40m - fun starts here)...

No idea if someone was doing like this before - read something about pearl or Rucken nad Lost Rucken trading - this way is to slow, described above is faster. After this you can start playing around - it should take you around 1-2hrs (waypoint your stations for faster trade)...

I built a station in Pearl. I buy stuff from my station and sell it to neighboring stations.

I never even bothered to buy a station license at the other stations, because even with the station license, I'm still making multiple millions on a good run.

TW are good. Also, you can stock up on as many fulcrum torpedoes as you can hold (remember that you don't have to load them into your weapons bays. Each FT will net about a half million profit, and you can hold 25 in a cargo bay (if you can find that many at your station).

Really, I thought everyone was doing this ;-)

How to put it in cargo not on hardpoint ? They go in hardpoint by default.... All people were talking about pearl , no one mentioned this station stuff - > I thought I was the only one....

OK - got it RMB.... Heh now the game will be easy, only exploration and stuff

I think you shift-click the item if you want it in cargo instead of an installation. It's either that or right-click. I forget which, but you'll find it quickly if you try these things.

I'd love to do the Pearl Run, I'd want to set up a station there too, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find pearl. Or go far from Sapphire at all yet. I'm more used to clicky draggy interfaces to get around galaxy maps, and I find the EM map kinda hard to navigate. And Evometrics? Dear lord, I do not understand that site. I can't click and drag on that map either, only search specific things. And if whats displayed doesn't show a point of reference I recognize, I have no idea how to get there. Esp since searching sapphire just ends up with everything crammed into the upper lefthand corner with a huge list of unreadable trash below it.

*shrug*

What do? Was planning on just drawing out my own star charts as I go, but its taken me a while to get a fuel scoop thingie. Now that I have, I guess I'll have to find out how/where to get a station deployer maker thingie and get my arse to Pearl.

Regarding the Evometrics.

There is always 4 quadrants on the map. Double click one of them to zoom in. Works on every level of zoom.
You can also left click (once) on any item to see the coordinates for it.
Double clicking a system zooms in and displays that system.
Clicking on any object in the list to the right, highlights it on the map.

You know that you can change the map to quadrant view in game?

Ah, figured out the map a bit now. I assumed that double clicking on the quadrants would do as you say, but the map is a bit laggy. I'm afraid that's always caused me to get a bit ahead of myself, and keep double clicking away. And if I happen to double click on an object it zooms straight into that, that always confused me before. Maybe you should make it so nothing can be outright selected from the overall view of everything. I think a little more of a progressive system might help out new users.

Once you told me the correct thing to do, I worked it out basically by trying everything. Double clicking fast, or slow, then making sure I was double clicking on empty space, and then I tried double clicking and waiting because I started to notice the somewhat laggy response, and that did it.

Thanks for the point Seejay, I can actually see the systems around Sapphire in local space now, you're a champ.

Now if only Vice would connect your 'random system' list, and the people who discovered them, and allow those people to name those systems.

On that one it also plots your position in real time, like a GPS.

Thats actually the one I figured out the whole problem on, found it when google provided me your updated weblinks. Useful as all hell tool once you figure out how to use it. I bow to you sir, knowing the effort you went to program it. My dad was the one who developed the old rune master program for diablo II, so I have first hand witness to the keyboard smashing frustration coding can lead to.

(Though, being a professional coder, I don't recall him smashing his keyboard quite so much for the ruin hobby stuff. It was mainly the dental software.)
