Delivering Fuel to Yourself?

Post by Lex Archer »

This may seem like a silly question, but I just wanted to know if it's possible to deliver fuel to yourself.

Hypothetical:
Your 1st Pilot Profile runs out of gas in some BFE stretch of space, because you thought there were hundreds of planets to be found because of some spurious game review.
...Also, because he was your first pilot, you had absolutely no idea how much fuel/how many jumps it would take to get from the Onyx system to the Cerulean system.
...And the repetitive jumping put you to sleep anyway.

Can the 2nd Pilot Profile you create ostensibly go to the coordinates on a public server where your 1st ship is stranded, jettison about 2K worth of fuel, and then log out so that your 1st Pilot Profile may then log in and collect said fuel?

I know it sounds like a silly (and oddly specific) "hypothetical" situation, but can it be done?

And if not, how long until a game upgrade makes it so? ^_^

Hello,

Nope.

Both players need to be online at the same time to "trade" fuel.

Go on to Multiplayer and ask someone there to drop some fuel for you, or they might go with a constructor and build a little station for you to buy fuel from.

Hi and welcome to the game comunauty

It technical impossible doing that. If you looking for fuel you can go online and ask for help. Otherwise you might bring with you a fuel converter for example.

 It is possible, but only if some other player remains in the same sector while you make the trade. Ergo, might as well get the other fellow to pass gas.

Thanks for the replies.

I had a nasty feeling it wouldn't be possible without another player. :P

Oh well.

Two computers with two (licensed, of course) copies of the game and a server or to connect on is the only way to trade fuel with yourself.

I don't know, Chicken...could someone else get on with a demo copy, as long as they can get to the sector and do the dirty deed before the demo time limit runs out?

Regarding your note "spurious" review of hundreds of planets out there!

You really have no idea how vast this game is. Space is HUGE and there are hundreds of uncharted systems out there.
Each containing at least 1 planet, but many systems has more than that. So I say that the review you read is spot on and accurate.

Keep in mind that space is 3 dimensional. You can't expect to fly around and bump into planets all the time. They might be way above or below your
path and if your scanners can't pick them up (NavMap), you fly by them!;) There is also a lot of empty space between systems, as it should be!

Here is the proof of how many systems that has been found so far: http://mercenary.junholt.se (SPOILER WARNING)

See ya in space!;)

Trust me, SeeJay... I wanted to be wrong about that.

I was really disappointed when I thought there were only a handful of planets.
Damned misleading NavMap...

I'll take your word for it (like the first guy, incidentally) without following that link.
You say "hundreds" - I say you're estimating based on what the link has found, and therefore going on more info than I have.

So I'll trust you.
...Plus, you post a lot, so you've probably been here a while.
...And you might possibly be Swedish. Notch is Swedish, and I like Minecraft, so... yeah.

LOL.

Yup, I'm Swedish. I've been playing since 2010, so it's a while now! :D
We still find new systems out there. Just amazing how big it is.

You can also "trade" with AI ships and buy intel. They might reveal a new planet location some times! ;)

If you need any help, just ask. I'll try not to spoil anything in my answers.

I do recommend joining MP. More fun with others out there to chat/fight with. Joint contracts can be great fun!

See ya in space.

I'm going to guess by the context that "MP" is some sort of Mercenary collaborative or guild of some type?

Yeah... if space-dogfighting is your thing, I guess Merc player guilds are cool.
I'm just not into it.
Like I mentioned before, I'm into Minecraft (even run my own server, occasionally), so I'm more about the mining/exploring on here (as there's not much to BUILD just yet).

I can't imagine that my start-up ship would be much of an asset to any group anyway!
And I may be new, but there only seem to ever be THREE servers to join at ANY time I log in to the game.
I mean, not that I want a bunch of Player interaction when I play, but I was expecting slightly more than these three Ghost Towns. :P

I played Trade Wars back in the day, so best case scenario, I'd like to find my own planet.
I do enjoy your tagline, though... which is reminiscent of Firefly's "See you in the 'Verse." ;)

MP is Multiplayer.

It's very friendly out there. People (if there are any online) tends to ask for PvP. Not just attacking.
I meant fighting together. All players in the same sector is in on any taken contract.
You'll rank up faster and it's great fun fighting in a group.

Any ship is an asset. This game is skill based. Equipment help out, but a skilled pilot can take on most players, even in a noob ship.
The only way to become a better fighter is to do a lot of fighting.

I'm an explorer myself but I enjoy fighting just as much. Lots of laughs and drinks has been shared online.;)

You can connect to another ship so one is the pilot and the other is a gunner as well. ;)

And in MP, you can get help when in trouble! ;)

I agree that it's very slow out there those days. Could be time-zone related as well tho.

Btw, I started playing Minecraft a little last night after a lot of pressure from my 2 sons LOL.
Never played it before. My first creation is a Spiderman Cave with a huge resident on top of it.
The entrance is covered by a huge Spider. (The one he has on his chest). :P

Well if that's all you meant by MP, I've been doing that since Day One (...he said, on Day Two).

Tell your sons that I've thus far kept other ships here at arm's length (Say: "He treats them like PVP griefers.").
No sense in revealing your under-equipped ship to a world full of seasoned Pilots, am I right?

I play MC (Minecraft) like you play this game (from what I've seen of your site).
Show your sons this pic of some Pixel Art I did on my server to give them an idea of the kind of player I am...
Image

^ That took me three days. (RT, not MC days.) ^

I was hoping to bring that creative spirit here to EM.
I guess we'll see, if I ever find a planet for myself. ;)

Cool stuff. Excellent work.

Also, just thought you'd like to know that I got my beak wet with the whole killing-in-game thing (EM).

Some (AI) schmuck decided to mine THE SAME ASTEROID as me - right in front of me!
I thought, "The audacity of this clown!" O_O
...And then blasted him to kingdom come.

I now have 3 kills on my record and have no doubt made some AI faction enemies (saw a couple of red guys for the first time a bit later), but it's pretty cool.
I may end up studying a bit of the Blasty Arts before too long. ;)

If you're in a friendly (green) star system (especially Sapphire), you're not likely to find any red AIs ... unless you shoot somebody. Then others turn red.
