(It's all done within game/forum parameters.

Nope - no cheating involved; just legit data gathering and analysis.

Actually, [IM] have more systems than most clans and I suspect that if you just ask, they'll tell you where they are!

[HB] only use the info to help small clans get up to speed in a new system and occasionally maintain their presence if there are RL-caused attendance issues . . . and only with prior permission. But it's fun to ask 'would you like a hand in X123?' (via U2U for confidentiality) and sometimes see the amazement that someone knows where they are!!

A quick check via the tilde key will tell anyone where we are. And, if you can't find the tilde key, wait until we complete a contract ... chat tells all.

so much for the 'counter-intelligence sections that uses sophisticated data and comms monitoring to identify the systems in question'. Yep just note the contract locations or use the tilde key!

However . . . sneaky clans have clever ways of preventing you from gathering this vital intel!

Just to be clear, I wasn't accusing anyone of cheating, and I was of the thought that everyone would know about the tilde key and the announcements in the system text that says where a contact was completed. I didn't think of that as "sophisticated". I thought perhaps a third-party program or server-side files could be perused and disseminated between clan members.

No 3rd party software involved. Well, maybe a spreadsheet
to sort out all gathered data.

There are more ways to gather intel and they are used
if needed to, trust me. ;-)

I had no thought of being accused of cheating either!

what you think is sophisticated depends on who and where you are - we oldies form the wilder parts of the northern UK think many things are sophisticated that tech savvy youngsters and softy southerners just take for granted.
