A strange thing happened the other day on the Galactica One server: Zorab Hagopian's prediction concerning the Cosmic Glitch came true. Evidently someone wished upon a star (probably Sirius since this was a very serious wish) ... wishing that it would be a lot easier to claim territories in the Evoverse. 'Cause, strange as it might seem (as I said earlier), for a day or two it was a lot easier to build up territorial percentages. So much so that contracts were worth more than the usual one percent each. The result: the Evoverse on the G1 server is now inundated with new clan-claimed territories!
The Cosmic Glitch being totally unstable, this strange occurrence seems to have abated ... and there is little likelihood it will crop up again in the foreseeable future (even if somebody else makes the same wish ... after all, Sirius is a bright star and not prone to falling for the same trick twice: as Scotty once said, "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me").
Admittedly, IM profited by this Glitch ... having been propitiously in MP at the time of the occurrence. But others also benefited. As the old saying goes: Timing Is Everything.
But wait! That's not all! Not only is the Glitch unstable, it is also unpredictable. Evidently there have been lingering effects of the wish. Well, at least one lingering effect: all the territories (even those we claimed and then abandoned, due to they being too far off the beaten path) have maintained their original percentages. For how long, I know not. But, as the old saying goes: He Who Snoozes, Loses. Ergo, I plan to forthwith revisit those abandoned territories and build them up to maximum ... then sit back and rake in the credits.
Either that or I'll use SeeJay's Planet Finder to seek out and claim even more territory. Hah! (Yaaahhh Sheena!)

SeeJay's Planet Finder program got quite a workout yesterday. While searching for a star system halfway between our IM territory east-northeast of Emerald and a territory discovered by Starbuck which is approximately west-northwest of Lambda, I came across not fewer than three (or was it four?) planets inhabiting separate star systems. I made note of a couple of them in my log:
The trip was an unusually hazardous one ... most of the space between star systems was moderately hostile and, as a result, I found it advisable to keep on the move. Fortunately, all of the actual systems I'd encountered were either fairly safe or totally safe (while docked at a base in the totally safe system, I accepted and completed a delivery contract ... revealing that I was still in the IM territory east-northeast of Emerald).
Anyway, planet X567 happens to be orbiting a star which is on the western edge of a territory halfway between the two territories currently claimed by IM. It is there that I planted a new IM flag (in the form of doing a couple easy-peasy contracts). And, thanks to the Planet Finder, I figure it might even be possible to extend that line of territories in both directions: east and west. Cool idea. Yahhhhh Sheena!

Some awesome exploration work there Marvin
I recently discovered a new system hitherto uncharted by any other players (at least not in SeeJay's database). I find it amazing that after all this time, and with so many uncharted systems already logged, it's still possible to find totally virgin planetary systems!

I've also noticed a lot of errors in the old map system. Wrong planet names, missing information on the planets, etc. Of course, I might be looking at the super-old map.

With the expansion, some star systems were moved. The expansion also increased planet size and added planet rotation ... affecting the old map.

Looks like you claimed all of G1 Server. For the last 3 days I have not been able to log on to G1...LOL....From post: 175287, Topic: tid=5325, author=Marvin wrote:IM claimed another territory Sunday. Admittedly, it's in a star system which was discovered by somebody else ... so I named the station [IM] Trespassing.
I get the message IP is wrong or Server is Full!:(

This may be completely irrelevant - but if you can't log on G1 then give this a try and see if it lets you log on.From post: 175293, Topic: tid=5325, author=Maarschalk wrote:Looks like you claimed all of G1 Server. Log onto another server and log off and then try to log on G1.

Me, Denny and my son played on G1 for about two hours on Sunday, noon 'till two PM, Pacific time. No problem ... nor did two other players have a problem logging on. The night before was a different kettle of fish, though ... after updating the game on my laptop and trying to log on, it was a no-go. I then played SP so I could position my ship where it would be needed on Sunday ... then, before closing down, made another stab at G1. And it worked.

BA was back today ... yeee hah!
A new Bad Alien has taken up the gauntlet to render their baptism of fire to new mercenaries. But at least one such mercenary made this new BA pilot work for his credits.
IM was operating in Cerulean B, doing planetside contracts, when BA Bane appeared and broadcast his intention to welcome Rook ... who was flying with IM at the time. Somebody (not me) got the idea to confront BA at the main city ... in terrain walkers.
Well ... Denny, Starbuck, Rook and I jumped into our TWs and waited for Bane. We didn't need to wait long. Bane flew down to the planet and attempted to pick out Rook ... but found himself in a crossfire, forcing him to constantly dodge and retreat (I assume he had to make repairs to his ship). Eventually, Rook began running after Bane as the BA retreated ... blowing Bane up after a lengthy battle between ship and TW.
Finally, Bane challenged Rook to a PvP in ships. And Rook, being the sporting mercenary that he is, accepted. And won the first round. After that, they pretty much traded punches and victories.
By and by, BA Bane moved on to a couple other targets: two new pilots who accepted their fiery bathes with good grace.
The day ended when Rook and I laid in a pursuit to intercept Bane, in the event Bane decided to bend the BA code* a bit and continue to hassle one of the new mercenaries. Rook and Bane engaged each other one or two times more and then Bane called it a day.
* Unless the attacked party demands satisfaction (a second go at the BA pilot), BA pilots are expected to kill only once and then move on to another new target ... if one is available.

It was a great fight and lots of fun.
A small correction. I did not bend BA code. I moved on after each kill and was only defending myself when attacked upon, in true BA spirit.
You all did a great job setting up defenses on the planet. One thing that was a little odd was that your TW's was hovering well above the ground
for a long time. Much longer than your thrusters would be able to support. A new secret TW equipment? Or maybe a result of the lag I experienced.
(I did not see any buildings beneath you, the city was a bit to the side).
The TW's was a bit jumpy at times, moving all over the place. (Not an excuse, you fought very good and I did not stand a chance against TW's in my ship)
A great and fun fight. Hail to IM and Rook for the fun.
Welcomed pilots are now safe from BA attacks, unless you attack first!;)

Big thanks to the cool IM guys who helped me while I was fighting for my survival against the terrible Cad Bane
