Planet Latitude Question

Post by albone20 »

I won't give the planet's name as to avoid any spoilers.
A mission reward's instructions gave me only one coordinate -5000Y to find a Shipwreck on a planet with a create orbiting above the wreck site. The best I could come up with was to fly close to the planet set my current position to -5000Y and hold the Y value and fly around the circumference but it's like finding a needle in the proverbial hay stack! Is there a better way?

I have 20 hours into the sim and it’s sinking in just how massive it is. My appreciation for EM grows daily. It will easily break my all time Record for how long a sim stays on my hard drive!

Planet Latitude Question

Post by Marvin »

Some hidden wrecks have been sucked up by the increase in planet circumference which was part of the Mercenary expansion. Add to that the factor of how the planets now rotate and you have a doubly difficult time finding wrecks or cargo pods which either orbit a planet or are stuck in the mud (so to speak). Ergo, your best bet is to employ one of two solutions:

(1) Hire a science officer, who will tell you (via the chat box) the heading and pitch to most any hidden object in a sector each time you jump into said sector ... then use SeeJay's triangulation tool to pinpoint the location.

(2) Deploy a sensor station (part of the Deploy thingamabob) ... which will display most any hidden object as a purple dot on the Nav map and, when close enough, on radar.
